My sister and I had a late breakfast here today. We found the atmosphere to be pleasant and all of the restaurant staff were friendly, courteous, professional and helpful. We loved all of the positive messages posted as well as the nostalgic photos. The food was great and the portions were large. They offered a full menu of food and the prices were reasonable. I highly recommend the Pancake House, it was yummy and a great place to try while in Lubbock Texas.
If you go on a weekend or busy time at the university, expect a long wait. Food is typical diner type breakfast. Try the sweet potato pancakes with cinnamon honey. Very tasty.
Waited about 30 mins for a table on a Sun morning and then another hour after our order was taken. Sum total 2 hours for a breakfast that is no different than any other breakfast establishment in the US.
Saturday morning visit. Now admittedly the place was packed with about a 15 minute wait. Seated and our order was taken promptly, but then we waited 46 minutes for our food. Standard breakfast fare including eggs, hash browns, pancakes, sausage. Food finally arrived and it was ALL cold and not particularly good. Didn’t send it back or complain as it was not worth the risk of another long wait. Coffee was good and our server was attentive and did his best but just could not overcome the long wait and mediocre food.
This place has been an old friend since 1982 when I had a job in Lubbock. I once worked in the neighborhood and ate breakfast and lunch with them often. They are primarily in the breakfast business but have plenty of other items fit for different times of day. It has always been privately owned and I believe it is still today. They are just across the street from Dennys and believe me Denny’s doesn’t have anything on them. My breakfast was made to order and they have fantastic biscuits. The serving time was very prompt and the wait staff cheerful and inviting. It sure was good to be able to visit with them again. I know they have been around since before the 1970 tornado where nothing but their bar stools were left. I hope they live on many more profitable years.
Great little breakfast spot that feels like you stepped back in time about 30 or 40 years! Not a huge menu but good selection AND there are a bunch of specialty pancakes not listed on their menu! Like Red Velvet and Cinnamon Roll pancakes - both amazing! So be sure to ask. Prices are great and portions are good size. Staff was super friendly and kind!
I do recommend it for anyone who likes pancake especially the professional ones. The staff made me feel like home, the place is so warm and lovely. The pancake was amazing with refilable cafe/tea.So recommended

We always love visiting a Lubbock staple such as the Pancake House. Pancakes are good. The biscuits and gravy were so good! It's always busy but its because they have great food!
