This was our first time to Texas and had been helping our kids relocate to League City. On our last night there we wanted good Mexican food, so I researched the local options and chose Abuelo's. I realized that Abuelo's is a chain, but chains can be as good as a mom-and-pop and I was not disappointed. Decore: Very Nice. It was clean and tastefully decorated. We were seated in a semicircle booth and I enjoyed the Mexican themed murals located about the establishment. Service: Very good. Our server was well groomed, friendly and attentive. He was always nearby to make sure our water glasses were filled. Food: Very-Very Good. As with my first visit to any Mexican restaurant, I ordered the steak fajita. It was the best fajita that I had had in the last 4 years. The steak was well seasoned, tender and juicy. The onions, green and red peppers were cooked to just the point where they started to caramelize. And the portion was more than adequate. The fixings were fresh, but I could have used a little more shredded cheese (I can never have enough cheese). As in most Mexican restaurants they provided chips and salsa. The mild salsa was good. But what I was pleased, most about, was that they included three additional salsas of varying spiciness/taste, without being asked. We were all very pleased with our dinners and felt that even though it was a little pricier, but we all agreed, it was well worth it. Summary: Well worth the visit and we will visit again, when we are back to visit the kids.

They are awesome!! Nice people that work there

I recently made my way to an Abuelo's Mexican Restaurant and decided on the one in League City, Texas. I was going from Galveston to Hobby Airport and stopped for lunch. It was intentional because someone suggested it. I travel quite a bit for pleasure and with that comes eating out. I am a bit on the picky side though. When I entered at lunch time, I was greeted at the door and seated in less than five minutes. The server was at my table immediately with chips, a variety of salsas, water and a menu. The menu was pretty extensive but I opted for a lunch-sized option as I was about to board a flight.I ordered beef enchiladas. It came with a side of refried beans and rice, all covered with the appropriate amount of chile con carne sauce and just the right amount of cheese. I make a point of this because you could actually taste the beef and its seasonings. You could actually taste the refried beans and the rice, all of which was very good.I liked the decor of the restaurant, that also has a nice bar. The restaurant was well-lit and clean, including the restroom. My server was friendly, efficient and attentive. She made sure that I did not want or need anything else without being overbearing. I thought that things were reasonably priced too.I would easily go to an Abuelo's again and when I am in the Houston/Galveston area, I will make my way to the League City Abuelo's again. I am always fair when I rate places and I DO NOT GIVE OUT a lot of five-star reviews, they must be earned. The facility earns 4 1/2 stars, the food 4 stars and the waitstaff earns 5 stars. Overall I give this Abuelo's 4 1/2 stars.

The steak and shrimp fajita for one was awesome and perfect for two. Absolutely loved the skinny margarita. Will definitely go back.

Nice, large welcoming atmosphere. VERY good margaritas. Food was ok, fajitas not sizzling. Loved the decor and fairly priced.

Great nachos .. large portion. Perfect for sharing with friends

We had the enchaladas and the chile rellenos. Everything about the meals was first class except I thought the refried beans were lacking in the taste of frejol (bean flavor), and the rice was similiarly light in flavor. But the enchaladas and rellenos were excellent. Thus the 4 star evaluation. The service was professional. I mentioned all the above to the manager who was visiting the tables during our meal.

Great location between Houston and Galveston. Good food and nice staff. All someone may wish for a Mexican restaurant is there.

Pretty good. Service was good. It's pricier than some Mexican restaurants and the food was good, but not stellar. The queso was very good, as were the complimentary chips and 4 salsas. The green tomatillo salsa was excellent. Son in law and I both got the burrito. Didn't really stand out from anywhere else I've been. But it was still good.

The server is great ! She had excellent customer service. Now the food is disgusting. It's not Mexican at all . We ordered the quesdilla plate, fajitas and the enchiladas which did not have authentic Mexican Chile. Not recommended at all. The chicken from the fajitas was raw and they microwaved it and brought it back. The corn tortillas were microwaved and were braking .Do not go there .
