This reminded me of my grandma's house...which is not a good thing. Flies flying around you and on you trying to eat while you swat them away. And my grandmother forgetting I was there and wandering around gossiping with the other grandma's. WE had horrible service. It was difficult to eat with all the . Waitress only took our order and that's the only time we saw her the entire time.
Tired of the same breakfast out? It can get a bit boring, even if it is always good! EL RANCHERO is NEVER boring! So many options and variations to choose from, cooked to traditional Mexican perfection, that boring is NOT an option! The entire menu is available all day and if you are an early bird they open at 4 AM! From Baytown, it is a quick trip, and well worth it, with very reasonable prices. HIGHLY recommended!!
I have been going there since I was a little girl. The waitress with the gray hair was extremely rude, like unnecessarily rude. I was there to celebrate an achievement and brought two new people with me. She came over with an attitude and was rushing us as we tried to give her our order. This is not the first time this has happened, but people that order after us got their food before us. My children will not even eat there anymore, because of it happening so many times. I eat there because the dad looked out for my family when I was young, helping my mom feed her kids. So I want to support this restaurant. First impressions are everything and for out of town family to say what my children said. I couldn't apologize to them enough. All I can say to the waitresses is don't judge a book by the cover, I was a waitress so I know what it's like to wait on people. I would never not tip, so not leaving a tip last night was a hard for me. I will no longer award bad behavior.
Is it possible? I'm tempted to call this the greatest Tex Mex combo plate in Texas. But there are too many restaurants vying for that title. So, if I call it the 2nd greatest combo plate in Texas, I'm probably safe. But seriously, it was perfect. Big scoop of delicious guacamole. Perfectly realized Mexican rice (with just the right hint of cumin). Excellent frijoles refritos (made with manteca). A mild and perfectly seasoned chili gravy covering cheesy enchiladas.Highly recommended. It's worth the road trip. You can have fun visiting all of the antique shops on Main Street and then having your terrific Tex Mex lunch.
We got take out at this restaurant .We both hot Burrito Con Queso and I know the Pandemic has changed the way and where we eat.Ive been going to this establishment for many years.i'm not sure what's going on But if your going to raise your prices and serve smaller portions please serve some good food like you use too.

Good Mexican wholesome food. Price is right. They have alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks. Home made Tortillas. Warm salsa and chips. Definitely recommend.
The breakfast is so good here and is served all day!! I love the Tommy's Tacos Dinner as well. The staff is great. The ice cream they have for free is delicious. Tastes like a churro!! The only thing I don't recommend is the quesadilla. The cheese was all melted and dried to the tortilla so all the meat just fell right out and was more like a taco. Other than that I love this place!! I will avoid that one plate and enjoy the rest of their delicious food!
El Ranchero is the perfect place to stop by and get you a nice Mexican style meal. The coffee is always hot and the portions on the meals are generous. Great place to stop at if you are on your way to Khema or on your way to Galveston.
