I highly recommend Billy Gene's. It's a must!Loved the view of the water. The decor was great. The food was good. Prices good.Sit by the window or porch for a beautiful view of the water.The cod fried in beer batter was very good and I recommend it. Thick, flakey fillets, cooked perfectly. The vegetables were very good. The meatloaf was ok. (We are picky about our meatloaf) I was told they have delicious steaks.Homemade desserts were available. (People were coming in just to pick up cakes "to go".
I really enjoyed the view from the porch here. We were visited by lots of wildlife during our meal, about 2 dozen hummingbirds, a lot of butterflies and other birds in the distace, even a stay cat walked by the river.The food paired nicely with the view. My patty melt came with bacon, which was a new one for me and a great surprise. It seemed that the restaurant favorite was the chicken fried steak. Very big portions and family friendly. Easy to spot off the main road and plenty of parking.
We were in Kerrville for the day had lunch here and it was delicious. Prices were reasonable and Zane our server did a great job. The best part was the beautiful view from our table.

Spouse and I both had chicken fried steak and a couple of sides with tea. Everything was good. Restaurant was clean, nice view to the river. Waitress was very good. Would return.
This place was pretty busy. The waitstaff was friendly and efficient. There was a large dining room with windows with a water view. The food was good. I'd recommend it.
It has been many years since we were in town and decided eat here. We arrived close to opening and it started filling up fast. There was plenty of parking and we were seating as soon as we entered. They offer inside table seating as well as outdoor covered patio seating and both areas overlook the river. The inside table seating is close quarters but we all managed. They have a good variety on the menu to satisfy all appetites. We all ordered something different. The kids menu is for 8 and under which is a bit younger cutoff than most places. We did not see a senior menu offering and did not ask since we were all hungry. We started out with Fried Zucchini appetizer ($5.99) which we love and hadn't had for some time. The quantity for the price was good BUT they were way over fried rather than golden brown. The crust would have been much better if not so over cooked. This came with a side of ranch and also marinara sauce. The kiddos ordered a grilled cheese with fries and a bowl of fruit with a drink ($6.49) and the other ordered the Cheeseburger, and the patty was almost chargrilled, with the same sides for the same price. The adults ordered Fish Tacos ($10.49) and ordered them grilled and there were three in the order but not has good as expected with very little cole slaw and not much flavor but just okay. The Chicken Chalupas ($10.49) came with two chalupas and rice and would have been better if the tortillas were not only partly crisp. The shredded chicken topping on them was generous though and the rice was very bland. The dollop side of guacamole was darkening but tasted okay. The Pork Chop ($12.49) was a good size and delicious and ordered with two sides -- green beans and pinto beans. The Turkey Club ($10.49) was a really nice presentation and the bacon was crispy and came with choice of a side so fried okra was ordered and it was also a bit over fried but not as much so as the zucchini. Our waitress was very lackluster and not very personable but was visible most of the time. We would come here again to try different things. By the time we left there were very few tables available but they do have a small waiting area up front. The desserts looked delicious but we were all too full to try any but maybe next time.
Beautiful view of the river on the patio, food came out SO FAST, service was excellent. Only had to wait 20 min to sit on the patio on a Sunday. My favorite item was the fried zucchini. Had the Turkey club, pretty good but wish the crossaint was toasted. My family loved their chicken fried steak! Extremely reasonable prices as well.
We were looking for a place to eat and happened upon this place via a Google search. So glad we did. They have both indoor and outdoor seating but it was extremely windy so we chose to sit indoors. We still had a view of the river which was perfect. The food was really good and very reasonably priced. The staff was also very friendly. I would definitely recommend a stop here if you're ever in Kerrville. We will be back.
