We visited this restaurant during the evening hours. The restaurant was nearly full. We ordered blood clams, razor clams, oysters and fried rice. The oysters were plumb and the green onion sauce made them more succulent, unfortunately the clams were overcooked (we surmised that the chef thought we were not used to see blood). The fried rice was delicious with a hint of smoky aroma, the hallmark of a well seasoned wok.The service was fast, staff was friendly, we enjoyed our meal and will be back when in Katy.
Love everything I’ve had so far. Been four times in the last month two months. My Hapa Vietnamese friend + I tried this first. Then brought my Thai mother the next time. Thai friend + I went this past Sunday bc the craving was imminent. Everyone has loved everything, thoroughly satisfied + is officially a fan. Even so far as driving across town to have on a regular basisThe owner is so sweet! Unfortunately, the staffing situation seems limited to one person. Two on the weekend, one runs good/drinks only. Only reason it’s not 5 stars. Takes a while for someone to come back to check at times. Please have patience. Considering the pricing, quality + location, Black Pearl is deliciously worth itLove their crawfish! Get the mixed flavours. Their spicy wasn’t spicy enough for my preference so we were brought out a side of smashed habaneros. Delightful. It was so pleasant + the crawfish had flavour throughout. Minimum order of two pounds. Is a dollar more than other places but worth it, IMO. The garlic looks to be the jarred, diced bits but it doesn’t have that aftertaste. Better than expected at first glanceTypically order sweet potato fries to dip in the crawfish sauce but got the tater tots. Perfection! Did order the sweet potato fries another time. Must order extra crispy in the future. Forgot last time + too soft/soggy in centreThe chilli oil scallops are divine! Sometimes with quail eggs, others not. Either way, delicious!!!Felt Saigon street food vendor vibes at every bite. Made me feel as if I were back in Vietnam in such a fun way with the foodSo, lastly, sweet snails w/ thai basil, forget what you think you know about “escargot” if you’ve never had this before. This is different + better. More meat. Not overkill by butterI cannot get enough of this place. It is officially in my top three favourite seafood establishments <3
The food was delicious! I’m so glad we stopped here on our first night in Galveston. We really enjoyed the oysters, crab cakes, and crawfish étouffée. We were a group of five, so they had to put two of their smaller tables together for us, but it worked well and we really enjoyed the meal!
They seem to get better every time I come back. Ordered the Grilled Squid , Fried fish & Shrimp fried rice. Everything is on point. Squid is perfectly grilled with killer spicy green sauce. Used the sauce on everything. Fried fish was crispy but not dry. Fries were great. Fried rice was seasoned well & not greasy. Everything was seasoned well and at the same time you can taste main ingredients & nothing was oily. If you like your seafood, give em a try.
Went on a Saturday night and they weren't busy at all. Had some great crawfish and crab in their combo #3. I recommend the kitchen special flavor. Their tea was also great. Had a lovely flavor. It is a small restaurant so I can imagine it would be hard to get service if they're packed. I'd definitely come back for the crawfish. Pretty good hidden gem
First time coming here, we were seated at the table but never asked what we would like to drink or if we needed a few minutes. After minutes after we arrived and were seated, an Asian couple came in and were seated. We had already decided on what we and to eat and were waiting for someone to come back and take our order. The same young lady that seated us went to the table of the Asian couple who had arrived after us and proceeded to ask them if they were ready to order and took their order. We did not cause a scene, we simply got up and walked out. Not only was that terrible customer service, it was also blatantly disrespectful.
Great lunch and seafood, had the oyster po boy with fried mushrooms. Everything was fresh and hot but the mushrooms could have been cut in half. The oyster were perfectly fried and plentiful great spot for some lunch and great service.
This is a small restaurant downtown. Seating space is somewhat limited as the bar area takes up most of the restaurant. Service was slow when we were there as it appeared understaffed. I had crab cakes, which were good, but did not come with anything else...fries, rice, etc. A bit disappointing there.
We ate here on a Tuesday for lunch. My husband and I both have mobility problems and use canes, and the lady that ended up being our waitress (Lori) met us at the door and opened it for us. I had wanted to try alligator so we ordered the fried alligator bites and the fried oyster po'boy without the bread and onion rings. The food was very good, and there was so much of it that we took some of the onion rings and fried oysters in a to go box. We went home the next day and warmed up the food in an air fryer, and it was just as delicious as it was the day before. Although this was really too much fried food, it was all delicious, and Lori ,our waitress, was excellent. If we get back to Galveston, we will definitely stop here for another meal.
Great food with great prices. I heard that it's crowded during lunch. We were here on a Thursday evening. The service was fast. Highly recommended.
