This restaurant is located next to a starbucks. I got my coffee and planned to go eat sushi and have a drink while I did some studying. When walking in I was greeted by a woman and a young man. No one said hello, or welcome or anything,…but the woman was quick to say that I must leave my coffee at the front and that I wasn’t allowed to have it. I asked, “so I cannot have my coffee while I dine here?” She said “no.” Not wanting to waste a good coffee I just turned around and left. Won’t ever go back.
I had the privilege to go here on the 15th of June, by far a good experience. It is for what the price indicates a great bargain for a hibachi restaurant. Will recommend to anyone looking to eat Japanese Hibachi. Will not be going to the quote on quote "major chain hibachis" again. Atami has earned my business.
Have been going there for years, recently went there for my brothers birthday dinner (5 people total) and everything was great until the end. We tipped our cook for the delicious meal, after getting our check we saw that they charged us gratuity, we asked the lady that brought out our check why, she said said because we had 8 people that’s why but we only had 5 total, then she said “oh we just changed the policy to 5” total bs because she just said 8. She kept on arguing with us back and forth that she needs the tip because she only makes $3 an hour, that she deserves it more. Not only did she ruin our experience there, she ruined my brothers birthday. Will never be going back there again, there’s plenty of great hibachi places in Katy, don’t go here.
Beware! Stay away! In addition to the issue below, this place is overpriced and the service is extremely poor. The waitress was rude and condescending. She was slow to refill drinks. She was the type of person that acted annoyed to have to do her job. Also, for Hibachi, you should avoid coming here if you have any special order at the Hibachi grill. They have a policy of not cooking special orders like "no soy sauce" at the Hibachi grill if you are not in your own party that fillls the entire Hibachi table. They will force you to accept having your food cooked separately in the back even though you are paying and tipping for Hibachi. The manager and chefs no longer cook the separate food first because apparently some customers complained that someone at the table "got their food first."This is the first time I've ever had a Hibachi take this kind of approach and single out someone in our group with a preference for no soy sauce on their food. People come to Hibachi for the preference of food hot off the grill and this place tricks you into paying Hibachi money and making you accept food cooked in the back. Who knows what other types of business practices they engage in here.Deceptive policies like this are a reason to avoid this overpriced Hibachi grill.
Nice experience, great food, very fresh, could see the whole cooking process in a few minutes... would do it again... prices are reasonable for the big portion... with soup & salad with a different ginger dressing but not spicy... interesting to check out...
Great experience.Tasty and fresh food.Friendly and nice staff.Definitely will be coming back.
Excellent service , great entertainment I highly recommend.
Wow! What to say? We’re so disappointed! This is one of our favorite place for Hibachi in Katy but I guess we will not return any sooner if there is no change on the management.Hibachi is all about a cooking show and decent food. Their Fried rice is number one!We always come here with the empty stomach so we can finish the big portion of the plate; and yesh always with the kids since they enjoy the show a lot. However, this time was a big turn off. The Chef who we finally find out what his name was Sam, seemed bored with no performance skills. No tricks? Okay, fine! we might understand he had a bad day. But come on! When it comes to the point the food come out burning, Salty, not in the order, then this is completely unaccepted.Server was terrible as well, she never checked up on us. I can’t say enough. Just very dissapointed.Managers or the owner need to take this seriously. Please hire those with passionate to do the job. Hibachi is all about entertaining. No show! No pay!
We have been going to this restaurant last several year but today February 2022 this restaurant is going down, management is bad and the service is worse ever! The chef named Sam and server named Paris is absolutely horrible! Chef is so terrible he messed up our foods, over cooked veggies, burn meats and seafood. He didn't even provide dipping sauces nor the server refill drinks or remove dirty places. Chef and server is the worse of the worse ever! Our table is full of kids and he doesn't know how to perform and messed up tricks! He cooked way too long and foods came out long and burn and messed up! We complaint to the old lady manager and she doesn't even say sorry nor give a damn. They automatically charged tips and in return provide poor services. Will file complaint with my bank and BBB. Good luck with your bad service!!!
This was my goto Sushi place for at least 2 years, ever since this God for saken covid restrictions began. Every Friday lunch I ordered take-out. It was not the best Sushi place, but good enough to keep coming back. I would have given it 3 stars, but last Thursday take-out was a complete disappointment. I ordered my regular sushi take-out but this time the rice was pasty, mixed in with crunchy grains, it had no flavor and the fish portions smaller than usual and sub-par quality. It was such a disappointment I doubt I will be going back. They must have changed the chef, new management maybe I dunno but something was way off. For a $30 order I can get alot better elsewhere. Sorry Atami.
