Discovered Mr. Hamburger from the YouTube channel "The Texas Bucket List" and added it to my list of stops on my road trip. I got the "Old Sparky" with regular fries. Like the electric chair it's named after, the flavors electrocuted my tastebuds with flavor in every bite. The fried patty was very intriguing and the following notes from the sauce sent me to another flavor dimension. As strange as it may sound, I felt the veggies and condiments really complimented the burger. The fries were good, but a little too crispy for my personal preference.I received good customer service from the two workers that served me and based off of my experience I would recommend Mr. Hamburger. To travelers such as myself, the parking lot is behind the establishment and the drive thru wraps around the building. The building was formerly a gas station and has lots of memorabilia of the former days as well as prison related items. There are many stories of inmates getting out of prison having their freedom meals at Mr. Hamburger, as well as stories of death row inmates requesting Mr. Hamburger as their last meals.
Delicious! My husband got the Warden burger and I got the dirty chicken sandwich. Both were so yummy! I also got the Mexican street fries. (Not pictured was an Oreo milkshake that I shared with my kiddos.) Deff go here for lunch/dinner!
This place was nice although it wasn't busy at all, every last table in there was dirty... I had to use my hand sanitizer to clean my table down..the floor was greasy and not swept at all much less moped.. the burgers are delicious ?... I can't give it any more stars because the place was very dirty.
Finally tried this place after seeing it for a few years. Should’ve done it sooner. Burger and rings were superb! Great sodas (don’t make them much like that anymore). Brought back a lot of childhood memories the way the food was done and the atmosphere. Was too good not to come back!
Great hamburger joint that's been around for decades. Just off the courthouse square. Not far off the interstate. Better choice than most fast food places. Burger was juicy and fat. Numerous napkins needed. All the add ons were fresh. Onion rings were top notch. Only drawback is that when they get busy be prepared to get your food. They are not fast, even in the drive thru line.
Figured I would give this place a try, was pleasantly surprised. Never judge a book by its cover. If your looking for a burger that looks and tastes like it's fresh off the grill, this is your place. I ordered the #2 Killer burger. Got it as it came, no changes made, flies and a diet coke (don't judge). Burger was huge, smelled fresh off the grill, looked hot off the grill, and flavor overall like a great homemade burger. Fries looked and tasted like fresh cut potatoes into shoe string size, seasoned pretty well. I feel the price is a bit high compared to competition for what you get, and drive thru was pretty slow. Had one car in front of me and didn't make it to the window for almost 25mins. Place is always busy though, will definitely be back to try other things. Nice and full after that meal!
Good experience. Greasy and tasty burgers and fries. Great shakes! Service was very friendly and on point.
This place was okay. The floor felt greasy and slippery. The burger was good, but I felt the food was so greasy or tasted like old oil. I definitely will give it another try though.
Was driving between Houston and Dallas. It's 2 miles off the highway, but worth it if you're in the mood for a good burger but not a chain restaurant. It's been around since 1959 and was a good burger. Parmesean fries and onion rings were superb! Cute decor (building was an old Sinclair gas station) and motif. Clean restrooms and friendly staff.
Reason why it didn't get 5 stars from me was because 1.)I believe we were missing the kids fries. We had to share one order of fries that I believe was for one of our combos. And 2.)Because I asked the guy at the drive thru if there was ketchup in the bag and he said "yes". There was no ketchup. Food was good though.
