Great family friendly place! My husband said the pork belly was amazing! You honestly can’t go wrong with anything you order… but definitely get the fries, hand cut & seasoned to PERFECTION!!
Not to bad! Ribs and brisket were good ?
Food was great. But need more training on customer service. Also had to ask multiple times for the same thing until I finally got it. I would of understood if they were busy. But when it’s mainly empty with about 2 tables occupiedNo real excuse for it.
Food could have been better... Truth be told I was made unwelcome at some point I felt like I wasn't wanted as a sit down customer & I was supposed to just come buy my food and leave. I was not treated as a welcome customer to sit and eat. I say that by observing how other customers that came in and stayed.... they got a lot better treatment(I truly pray that my skin color has nothing to do with it)
I have eaten here many times before, but today I had a GROSS experience. I ordered a two meat plate with beans and macaroni and cheese. We decided to eat in the car because there was a girl’s baseball team and we thought we would leave the tables for them. About two minutes later, I returned inside the restaurant with my receipt and the food. I SHOWED THEM THE BLACK HAIR that was found inside of the macaroni and cheese. When I went back inside, and as I waited in line- I noticed; not one employee was wearing a hair net or any type of hair covering. After showing them the hair in the food, their response was… once you leave the restaurant we are not responsible. They did not refund my money or offer to make another plate. I guess you have to eat inside of the restaurant to make sure the food you paid for is not served with hair. I’m surprised of the POOR customer SERVICE. I did not order human hair, and it shouldn’t matter if I eat inside the restaurant or not- they prepared the food and served it- so they are responsible!! BEWARE!I asked them to TRASH the food and left!
First time here but we enjoyed the food. We went early to avoid a crowd, it's the times. Large restaurant and very clean the way it should be. Will visit again.
One star here is a struggle… of the two meals we purchased I would say the things that were ok included the macaroni & cheese and the free pinto beans. Otherwise, the ribs and potato salad were meh. The brisket and chicken were almost inedible. The brisket in particular was so dry I probably wouldn’t serve it to my dog. But also it had absolutely no flavor or smoke ring that is traditionally seen in smoked brisket. The smoke ring less of a thing since I’ve had delicious brisket out of the oven, it tasted better than this for sure. I really felt like I was eating cardboard. Sauce was traditional vinegar base, if that’s your thing, it’s not mine so not helpful in adding to brisket. Maybe it’s the KC girl in me that does not see anything you Texans find good about this place. I’m sorry for your taste buds.
Wonderful atmosphere and food. Love the beans and fried okra. A great staff makes you feel welcome ?
I have visited McKenzies two separate times. The first time I tried a burger with fries. The beef patty needed more seasoning, it was an ok burger overall. The second time I went, I tired a brisket patty melt this was very delicious with the onions and cheese. Fries are fried to perfection. The only reason I've given it a three is because the burger could have been seasoned better and the customer service needs a bit of work. Both times I've gone the employees seem annoyed if you ask for something extra like tomatoes or pickles. Nonetheless a decent spot for the area.
Use to be really good, sadly not anymore. My grandkids who live out of state would always ask to go there so we decided to take them tonight since they are here for Christmas,Ribs where so tough my grandson couldn't eat them and they use to love getting a bowl of beans now the bean bowls are the size of a ketchup container, ridiculous. We will be finding a new favorite bbq place!
