My family was visiting the town for a wedding. We were looking for a simple quick place to eat. This cafe over delivered on yummy ness! These were the best fried green tomatoes I have ever eaten. The service was great and they even gave us a free piece of pie.
This place was amazing! The wait wasn’t overly long, the waitress was very friendly and efficient, and the food was very good! They start you out with three kinds of bread/cornbread and wonderful whipped butter. My husband had the chicken fried steak and he said he thought it was the best he’s ever had. He also had turnip greens and fried green tomatoes and said they were great. The chicken fried chicken was lightly battered, golden, tender and delicious! I’m not sure what the cream gravy was made from, but it was good too. The tea was good and the chocolate mousse pie was great, especially the whipped topping - and I don’t usually like the topping. I can see why it’s rated the #1 place to eat in Huntsville!
We ordered our food to go. I wasn’t as pleased with the food as I thought I would be. I got the grilled shrimp (says it comes with 5 jumbo shrimp) w/ green beans & loaded sweet potato ($1.50 up charge) my family got the chicken fried chicken with turnip greens & loaded sweet potato. For $16.75 I was expecting actual jumbo shrimp. I tasted some of the chicken fried chicken, it was okay. Wasn’t really any flavor to the food, personally. Everything was just okay. I forgot to take a picture of the sweet potato (had a few marshmallows sprinkled around). I’m not too sure I’d return, if I did, I wouldn’t foot the bill.*Update 4/27/22 - My mom actually returned the next day to order more food & noticed on her receipt that she was charged almost $6 in a “to go prep” fee (something along those lines) & ALSO a $17+ gratuity was added to her receipt. One waitress handed her the receipt and after she looked over the receipt she asked another waitress before she paid & the waitress removed the unnecessary charges. I went to took back at my receipt & noticed a $4 addition to mine for “preparing” my to go order. Yeah..I won’t be returning here. Unacceptable, especially if the gratuity was added as a way to pocket the money.
My friend and I travelled to another area, to share new memories. I lost my son two years ago and with it being Mothers Day, without any living children, its a difficult day (every day is really). We took a drive to Huntsville and there was a waiting period. It was so worth the wait! The food was EXCELLENT! The waiter, Colten, was such a sweet guy. His mannerisms reminded me so much of my son so this was a double decker sort of day, as we don’t see good manners in many young adults anymore. So I was most pleased, and he was promptly attentive. After leaving extremely satisfied, my friend and I walked over to the bakery. The pumpkin muffin was out of this world! My friend had the truffles. If anyone is passing through, you have GOT to stop and dine at these two gems. You won’t be disappointed!
This is a great local restaurant that's home cooking style. Can't go wrong with anything you pick, even for picky kids. And if you save room, the desserts are awesome. Friendly, helpful staff. Decent price, generous portions. Never disappointed.Place tends to run a little chilly so bring a sweater if sensitive to cool room.
Great atmosphere, some of our family met up and we had party of 9 and waited maybe 10 minutes on table, very fast and friendly people working.

The staff was great (Emily our waitress) service was on point. Chicken fried steak was the best I ever had, the brown gravy was great, will try the white gravy next time, cornbread was awesome.. The decor was super cute. The only negative was the glasses were foggy/chipped up. We're coming back soon.
Found this little place just by chance. Would have marked 5 stars but the service was lacking, they had plenty of waitresses in the place and were very friendly. I sat for a long period of time waiting for a refill of these amazing broccoli cornbread rolls. OMG, hidden under the normal breads, is this amazing broccoli cornbread, and when I say amazing, I don't typically like cornbread... As far as the meal, I have nothing bad to say, steak used in the 2 entrees we had were seasoned well, and cooked to perfection. The slaw was a good mix of sweet but not too sweet. The fried okra was a bit disappointing, lacked crunch, but seemed to be homemade. The gravy on the country fried steak was great, and the wife ate all of the country fried steak, so it must have been good. I had this Montreal Steak... Like fajita meat with cheese and peppers and onions.... It was really good as well.Then we had desert... Y'all I think this place is really known for its pies and cakes. We had the strawberry pie, and let me tell you, it's out of this world. They had a poppy seed lemon cake, bit it was out at the time... We are going to try it next time. Definitely a diamond in the rough in the middle of Huntsville TX, but worth the stop! I just wish our waitress was a bit more observant. As a bonus, they do recognize veterans... Believe it was 10%, which was nice as well. We will be back.
