I drive 1h 30min to the area for my dentistappointments and the last time I was therethe 2 girls there got my order wrong andIeven tipped but didn't realize it was wronguntil later. Wow!Who knew the best Mexican restaurant in Atascocita was called El Jalapeño.Do not skip this place if you like authentic Mexican food. Milenesa, chilaquiles, lengua, menudo, street tacos, and all the favorites. The salsa is amazing.Has a more western feel and reminds me of the Mexican restaurants from my childhood. Nothing wrong with Tex Mex... but this isn’t Tex Mex.Full bar so not just a breakfast/lunch joint.
We came here what felt like every weekend... not my choice (we were invited by my BFs dad)... it's alright. Nothing to write home about... I'd rather drive a few miles over towards Huffman and go to La Villa. I just wasn't impressed, overall, with the food. So bland. We may have left Texas but it's a solid mental note, when we do return, don't go back here.
I ordered a carne guisada plate and it tasted like it came out of a can. My wife said the taste was arregeno, this ingredient is not used in carne guisada, why they use it in carne guisada I'll never know. So, I sent it back and ordered huevos con chorizo. That wasn't much better but tolerable. Their tortillas were half-way cooked and the service was bad. The waitress didn't like the fact that I sent the carne guisada back and never came back to ask if we needed anything else, not even to refill our coffee.
Food was hot. Just tasted out of the can. Lacked real flavor. Quick service, friendly staff.
This is a fantastic family owned, local restaurant. Food is always fresh, great service, and full bar. If you are looking to support local I would highly recommend El Jalapeno! My next trip will to come for breakfast. YUM!
In my opinion, probably one of the best Caldo de Res in Atascocita and the Barbacoa is always delicious ?
Don't waist your time and money in this place they have me burn refried beens in my enchilada plate and my 4 year old daughter she even said it was disgusting. She lost appetite and didn't even eat her plate.The lady only offers to replace the bean with othe different beans and also only discounted my daughters plate so I still had to pay 18$ dollars for a coke and a plate off enchiladas that had burn beans.Why would u serve burn food? if u know u burn it dont give it to custumes. Then she didn't even said sorry she was mad. That's what got me upset she said my daughter didn't even eat the food no why would she eat it after the fist thing she try was burn beans u took her appetite and my away i ate the enchiladas cuz I was so hungry that's why So she discounted my daughters not mines. Crazy and she was the manager.Don't go ti this place they are not nice. They should have a 2 start or less.
Food is not good at all !! Beef taco was full of carrots and potatoes with no flavor at all !! And was expensive af for no reason !! Margarita was ok but didn’t. Have much alcohol!! Looks very nice inside but food is horrible .. if you enjoy flavor in your food don’t come here
This was honestly some of the worst Mexican food ever… food had no seasoning. Salsa was water, the beans tasted weird, the taco meat was bland, and the enchilada was super small and had zero filling in it.
