The food is so delicious, fresh, and high quality! It feels so clean and the restaurant was so clean and cozy, even on a Friday night, which is great compared to other Japanese restaurants that are jam packed with people! It was actually reasonably priced (for a Japanese sushi restaurant in River Oaks District). I highly recommended them and I will most definitely come again!! ??
Came here alone for lunch today. Definitely did not miss the mark on quality (5/5). Sushi was fresh.However SERVICE made it not worth the price.
The atmosphere is really nice. Dessert, while small, is quite tasty. I really liked their matcha Montblanc (I think it's just called a matcha cake on the menu). I was underwhelmed by their karaage and chicken sukiyaki udon. While the karaage is probably authentic, it is super fatty--like 50% fat. The udon had basically no flavor. It also took way too long to get my check when it was basically empty: I was sitting there done probably 10min before I could get anyone's attention.I would probably come back for dessert, but that's about it.
Service was great. Food was delicious. Tried tan tan men, unagi bowl, miso soup, it was all worth. I'd eat ital again. Otoro was fatty and delicious. 10/10 worth every cent i spent.
First time at Zen and not impressed. The restaurant was fairly empty with just a handful of folks in there; however, the wine, apps, sushi, etc took forever. The food was average quality although I was a big fan of the ceviche. I'd hate to see how long it takes to eat dinner if they were busy.
My favorite sushi restaurant in Houston I think. Excellent quality fish, the absolute best sushi rice anywhere. I love the vegetables in the bento box and the presentation is beautiful and elegant.
