Came for the first time this past weekend.Line was long but went by relatively quickly. Waited about 25 minutes on a Saturday afternoon around 12:30. Prepare to wait outside in the summer heat.Food was good. I’m not a huge BBQ person so you might be wondering why I went to a BBQ place but I went to meet with family and overall was satisfied with the food.Usually I go for the brisket or pulled pork but I tried every meat they had to offer except the Turkey. The brisket was an 8/10. Too much fat for my liking. The pulled pork was a 10/10. Didn’t even need sauce. Not a sausage person so I’m biased here but the spicy pepper Jack was a 4/10.The sides where good as well but the Mac and cheese left a lot to desire, it was extremely dry.We had a tres leches cake and it was an 11/10.Overall a great destination if you’re wanting to try some BBQ.
By far the BEST brisket I have EVER had. So worth the wait. The ribs, the sides, everything we had was AMAZING. I can’t wait to go back. Absolutely delicious food. I wish I lived closer!!
I decided to give Truth a try based on their reviews. Too bad for us, it wasn't what we expected. Not to mention, the name says it all, the "Truth" is according to a worker I spoke to, he said you should get in line around 10:30am to at least have any of the meat items available on their menu. We arrived after 1pm and they did not have many meat options to choose from. There were only 3 meat options: chopped brisket, 1 slab of pork ribs, and pulled pork. Not even 1 link of the sausages were available. I went especially to try their sliced brisket, turkey, and sausages.Grant it, the meat was smoked good and it was tender as well, but they didn't have a bbq sauce that we like. The sauces they had were on the vinegar side. The sides we had were just okay, but made the best of it.
As you can see by the pics, the prices have gone up. Still very much worth it on my opinion. The sausages were my favorite. They were sold out on the spicier option! The sauces at the table were good. Long line but it moved relatively fast. Good selection of drinks. Very cutely decorated.
I am not much on standing in line for lunch before the restaurant opens but a friend recommended I give this place a try. It was well worth the wait. I like brisket sandwiches. This place is one probaly the best place I have eaten. Thcik slices of brisket that just melt in your wouth. No BBQ sauce needed, the meat stands on its own merits. Come early, I got there at 11AM on a Wednesday and the 20th in line.
Truth BBQ is awesome and I'd highly recommend it to anyone in Houston. Their brisket is full of flavor from the seasoning and smoke, and it's clear Truth gets high quality brisket because it was amazingly tender and moist. When we visited during a weekday for lunch we received freshly sliced brisket at just the right temperature. They were also giving out samples of their smoked turkey during our visit. While we didn't order it with our meal, we thought the flavor of the turkey itself was delicious with just the right amount of smokiness, and it was also very tender and juicy.Their corn pudding is to die for, and admittedly it might've been our favorite item!We visited on a Wed for lunch around 11:50am and waited ~15-20 min. Well worth the wait!
Super simple, best BBQ I’ve ever had! The flavor of the meats were outstanding. Legit smoke rings! The sides were delicious! The chocolate brownie, Oreo cookie, and chocolate chip cookie dessert was amazing!!! We are already planning another trip out to TX just for the food!
Was here from out of town, and a friend recommended this place as the best BBQ in Houston. Everything was so flavorful! The brisket basically melts in your mouth. The sprouts were so tender and flavorful. The tot casserole and corn pudding were great as well. Everything had a bit of a kick to it, which I loved. The bread, pickles, and onions are also a nice touch. All the flavors just melded together really well. Only complaint is that the brisket was a bit too salty, and I wish it would’ve been warmer.
The best bbq in Houston!!!My coworkers and I work nearby and eat there regularly! It is always amazing! So for my going away lunch of course I picked Truth! Which also coincided with Go Texan Day!!! Perfect!!!As always even for pick up and eat in it was excellent! The sausage with cheese is my favorite! All of the sides are excellent as well. Tatter tot casserole is out of this world!Biggest recommendation is get there early and pack your patience because you will have to wait in line! But it is worth it!
The line to get in moves swiftly. The wait is worth it. We tried the brisket, turkey, pulled pork and pork ribs. It was all good. I was probably most surprised about the pulled pork. Just when I thought no one in Texas could pull off pulled pork like in the Carolinas, Truth comes through. we had the Cole slaw, tater tot casserole and Mac and cheese for side. The Cole slaw was not good but the other two sides were. The banana passing is to die for.
