I ordered a birthday cake a little over two weeks in advance, and also called ahead to confirm the order went through. Unfortunately, when I went to pick up the cake two weeks later I learned that they forgot to make the cake. I was told that it would be made and delivered to me before the party started, which it was. Tasted just fine, but it felt like such a rushed job, especially with the text. It looked quite sloppy written across the scroll, and I was told over the phone that it would have blood dripping down the side, which it didn't. I've seen the great work that's been done by this bakery. I just wasn't fully satisfied with the service given to me for the amount of money I paid.
The two stars are for artistry and ability to turn over orders quickly. The cookies looked great. However, the cookies were dry and not tasty at all. Definitely not worth $5 a cookie. Would not recommend or use again for decorative cookies.
I’ve had Richard create two very special cakes, one for my Papa’s 90th birthday and a chicken for my friend’s 40th. Both were showstoppers and delish! A true artist - thanks again!
The Village Bakery did an amazing job on my sons 3rd birthday cake! I supplied an inspiration image but they took it to another level! Great service overall and best part cake tasted as good as it looked!
I am so disappointed in this past experience. I have got 3 cakes from them recommending my friends etc. and today completely blew my mind. I placed a last minute order yesterday, I never got a call when the cake was ready. As j was running errands I misread and thought they closed at 7pm. I called and screenshot what i saw in front of the cake place at 6:30pm. When I received a call this morning before I could even wake up Karen called 4 times hung up in my face and said to choose another bakery before i could even tell her I was STILL going to use the cake because the birthday party is tomorrow. She was very rude and I’ve never been hung up on in my face especially if I’m still going to need the cake and purchase it. Just ridiculous when I’ve been in customer service for 10 years this isn’t the right way to come to a customer.
AMAZING service, talent and flavors! I ordered a wedding cake and Mr. Richard was so kind and understanding with what I wanted. The cake come out beautifuly and the flavors were soooo good! The cake definitely a highlight of the night. All my guest were so impressed and at awe. Thank you Mr. Richard and your team for doing such an amazing job.
First time using this bakery and definitely the last. For a $100+ cake, the exterior quality was mediocre. I think the picture speaks for itself. Picked up the cake a few hours before a birthday, not much changes we can do WITHIN A FEW HOURS OF AN EVENT.After bringing up concerns to Richard, the owner, no consideration was given to mediating the issue. As a business owner myself, I am honestly disgusted with that level of service as I have personally gone out of my way to refund customers or provide a discount if the product I offered was not as expected. Period, no questions asked. But hey, I suppose businesses who begin to put profits before quality & their customers are the ones that don't last the test of time.You can get much better value elsewhere for your bakery needs, don't waste your time or money here.
Professional cakes, have used them in the past for several occasions. Unfortunately today’s incident was very disappointing. Cake was ordered 2 weeks ago for my niece’s elementary national honor society ceremony for this evening at 5 pm. Upon arrival at pickup at 3 pm, I was informed artwork could not have been done. Asked if my sister had been contacted with the issue, response from Richard was, “he wasn’t the one who took down the order.” Assured me the cake would be delivered via courier a little bit after 5 during Houston traffic. I received a voicemail 10 minutes before ceremony informing me cake could not be delivered after all, a refund would be made. I called back informed them this was unacceptable of their notice of 10 minutes before ceremony. Richard then called back, left another message that cake could be delivered in the morning if we still wanted it; to let him know what we wanted him to do. Again, I was not going to leave my niece’s induction ceremony to finalize the cake hiccup. I emphasized during pick-up ceremony was today, not tomorrow morning. Inconvenient on their part, poor communication, unprofessional, and overall not cohesive as a team. Disappointed this would be the last time using their service. I don’t leave bad reviews on any business, although, for future reference make sure you have a backup cake or other dessert items for your occasion in case someone like The Village Bakery does not come through.
The folks at The Village Bakery made these amazing decorated cookies and cake for my kid's birthday. This was my first time placing an order with them and everything went well. Highly recommend them for custom cakes and cookies!
They get 5 stars from me because they gave me exactly what i asked for. A custom poker style chocolate cake for my friends birthday. Well i want you all to know that my friend has been fighting cancer. I didnt think he was going to be here to even celebrate a birthday. It has been a long hard battle for him. He was sooo happy when he saw the cake. He loved it!!! It was also yummy good! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
