I got the bistec encebollado where do I start the flavor isn’t all that the arroz blancos is just that any Latino knows even our white rice has sabor the “encebollado” means smothered in onions this literally had a piece of onion oh and the . Beans are not black or red their pinto beans almost ranch style I did mix my beans w the rice to taste it the tostones rubbery & were hard they didn’t have the drinks we ordered I asked to cancel the drinks they refused and forced me to choose 2 sodas I do not recommend this as authentic Puerto Rican food it’s literally just Tex-Mex food nada k ver con Puerto Rico Im disappointed to say the least if u don’t know about authenticity then yeah u might think this is it
This small, family run restaurant is one of the only places to eat authentic Puertorican food in the Houston area. On this visit I tried the carne frita (fried pork chunks) with trifongo (ball of mashed green plantains, ripe plantains, and yuca), which was cooked perfectly. The pork chunks were well seasoned and very lean. I also had an excellent home made flan. Definitely worth the visit.
The atmosphere is quaint and cozy. The owners are friendly. The food is tasty. This was our first visit here and it was a great experience.
Just like some people have said parking can be a pain but it is well worth it. The service is top notch, they treat you like family. And the food was so so good.
I haven't had authentic Puerto Rican food like this since I left Michigan and my mother in laws house. Staying true to the Puerto Rican culture, the hospitality was amazing and the food was delicious! Highly recommend and definitely will be back again!
This is the closest thing to authentic puerto rican food it will come down to. The carne guisada is amazing here highly recommend it.
Legit some of the tastiest food in Houston. I will be dreaming about their carne guisada. Is the interior fancy? Nah. But for food this good, it really doesn’t need to be. Owner is super friendly as well. Just be prepared for almost nonexistent parking and a tight squeeze inside- consider ordering to go.
I ordered carne frita con mofongo and mofongo con pechuga al ajillo. One complaint: the huge ball (plantain, yuca not sure) was really dry. First time here food was ready ontime; reasonable prices. I just wish they provided a sauce or made that ball more moist/digestible.
First timer and I must say it kind of brought be back as if I was in the island. Small spot but felt homey. The food was delicious. I will come back. Primera ves y tengo que decir que me sentí como si estuviera en la isla. Un lugar pequeño pero se sintió como casa. La comida estaba riquísima. Volveré otra ves.
