Customer service was great really nice service. but the food was nasty as hell
My review is from a takeout order. The food was just okay nothing special. Houston having so many options for Nigerian food there other places that have tastier Nigerian cuisine. I got the coconut rice and stew. The chicken was good and stew had a little spice to it which wasn’t bad. My bf bought it for me. Follow my Instagram: nancyuche_ for more nice photos.
I made sure I placed 5 consecutive to go orders before making this review and it’s wild to see ALL the to go orders either missed the protein or the solid which goes with it. 5 times can’t be oversight, at this point it seems intentional. I feel there are others like me who never leave reviews and just overlook it but not this time. Below are two different plates, one missing plantains other has no protein at all. Never had any issues when I ordered in but ALL the to go orders are conveniently wrong.
This is the true taste of Nigeria… I felt like I was home, I felt like I personally cooked this food. Im in love. I ordered jollof rice with Crocker fish and white rice with oxtail. I murdered my plate. This should be number one on the list of Nigerian restaurants to visit in Houston
Very disappointed. From the taste, me being on hold for over 10 minutes to the point of me having to walk in and wait. Even with the wait I thought my food would be steaming hot. I was wrong, only the beef was fresh. Unfortunately they ran out of mixed vegetable aka the spinach mix that they called “greens”. At least use the correct verbiage in a Nigerian restaurant. I was told due to them running out of mixed vegetable which comes with each rice plate I would get extra plantain, wrong. The rice was not fresh or flavorful. I added my own seasoning when I got home, it was dry. Not sure if I will be back. My experience a few years ago was ways better.
Waited 45 minutes for a take out order. Other people who came before us got their others, ate and left and we were still waiting. Got the food and it was absolutely NONSENSE, coconut rice looked like 5 days old rice mixed in with microwaved veggies, same with jollof rice. Owner is nonchalant and does not care about customerService if you seem young. I used to like this place but after the last couple of visits, I wouldn’t recommend. There’s been a shift, and it isn’t for the better. The restaurant ambience is cool tho just not the food.
Tasteless egusi. Terrible service. Been waiting for the check for 25 minutes so far. Lightly boiled tripe(supposed to be soft) hard as a rock. Cold rice, half cooked fish. Did I say terrible service? Menu items not available. I actually called before driving from Spring to verify that items would be available because I’ve had the experience of items not being available. And they didn’t have them. Never got the water we asked for. Oh and terrible service. Zero stars.
The first time we visited the Restaurant the customer service and food portions was perfect. The second time we visited the customer service was the same, however the food portions was very different (much less). When we asked for additional sauce and what's the difference between the first time we visited and now, we were told that they were being generous the first time. While the food is savory I am unsure if we'll revisit the restaurant again.
Out of all the African restaurants i’ve been to in Houston, this has to be the best. The customer service is top notch and the food came out on time and tasted good. The presentation of the food was really creative too. I’d recommend anyone wanting to try Nigerian food to go here. I will definitely be returning.
I came to Taste Of Nigeria to eat with my family on Saturday it was very busy but the food came out on time and the presentation of the dish was spectacular the customer service was great they let us know what was out of stock beforehand I love the vibe of the restaurant they had afrobeats playing in the background it was amazing it reminded me of home. I would definitely recommend this restaurant if I could give more than 5 stars I would my family and I will be returning.
