I go around reviewing restaurants & eateries worldwide.... the main purpose obviously is to educate other foodies. Saba's Grill & Wok was unfortunately disappointing. For it to be reviewed at the level it is I was not impressed. It gets a 3/5 stars specifically because of taste to value. Overall the establishment is small and intimate so that's a plus. Menu choices are more than enough to choose from so that's good. Menu was diverse as well. I chose the Avocado Chicken Wrap. $20! I obviously came in to review so the cost did not matter because I have a duty to review. The plate came out and the initial amount of fries was an amount for a toddler child. I asked what is this and the waiter said that's the plate. I told him I'd have to buy a side of fries. The side of fries came out in an adult portion. This is disappointing specially because fries are universally cheap. Why skimp on this side and risk disappointing return or new customers. All in all the meal with not drink (I had water) was $27.$27 is a meal price that I've had at real restaurants where you get plate food that is fully cooked. I would not recommend at their prices & gave them a 3/5 stars ⭐️ out of generosity. On to the next #BonVivant
The food is good but good luck trying to order ahead of time. They never answer the phone and don’t have an online ordering system.
Saba's has amazing customer service and delicious food. I had a group coming to Houston and their flight was delayed. They were very understanding and delivered the food for me. They were super easy to deal with. 10/10 would recommend.
New to the area and a Rabbi recommended this place. I called roughly 20 minutes before closing and asked if I could still place a telephone order. A man with an Israeli accent said that I could. I explained I was new to Texas, had never been there before and asked for recommendation. The individual, whom I later learned was the owner, rudely told me he had no time for that but he said if I come within 10 minutes I can place an order in person. Despite getting there in less than 10 minutes I was told the kitchen was closed. I asked to speak to the owner but was told he wasn't there.I suppose the lack of kosher establishments makes courtesy to customers unnecessary. I, however, will not patronize any place owned by such a rude and obnoxious person.
This was our last stop before leaving Houston and it was very worthwhile. The schwarma was excellent and our group had it three ways - in a pita, in a laffa and as part of a plate. Everyone enjoyed it. The grilled chicken portion was on the samll side but very good. Salads were very enjoyable especially the carrot salad and eggplant salad.
Great floor. Fair pricing. Everything we tasted was delicious. Nice & clean. Would highly recommend.!
Food is ok but the portions are not sized for the price you pay. It is very expensive and I would expect to at least get a large plate. There are also no modern sauces like garlic mayo, spicy mayo, sweet chilli. This place has potential but there skimping out on there customers.
Kosher meat offerings with an overwhelming number of choices from swarm to hamburgers to Chinese. We enjoyed Sesame sauce with beef and white rice; the same, but with chicken; Kung Pao with beef and white rice; coconut curry and chicken with brown rice. All were very yummy. Clearly a family restaurant given the families that came in.
I tried to hire Saba for an engagement party with numerous dietary restrictions, Kosher being the most important. From the start the manager was rude and harsh. We knew the food was good quality and very tasty, but after multiple calls with multiple messages left, and even an email through the website placing the order, and no response, I all but gave up. When I finally reached the manager today, he was so rude I was taken aback. I politely told him he was the rudest manager I have ever dealt with and I was sorry his staff had to keep taking my calls and messages. He then began yelling at me at the top of his lungs how dare I tell him he was rude...He would return the calls on his time, not on my time....he didn't have to do anything on my time schedule and he would call me on his time schedule...when it was convenient for him he would get back with me...He told me that the prices his staff quoted me were not the price it would be and it would be more than 3x the quoted price...and there was no way they would have my order ready at 11:00 a.m. as they don't open until 11:00 am and they would have to bring in people an hour earlier to have it ready at 11:00 and he wasn't doing that. When I tell you to think of a Seinfeld episode involving soup...This manager was him x ten!!!! I was flabbergasted and shocked by his behavior and yelling. It was obvious he was doing it in the restaurant as I could hear the nose around him. Eventually, I hung up and gladly ordered Kosher sandwich trays from somewhere else. Not the food my client had planned, but neither of us would spend a dime in this establishment. As an owner, I would fire him. I will never order or eat here again because of the interaction I had with him, and I certainly will not recommend them to anyone else.
Food was good, well priced! The lady behind the counter was so sweet. Very fast service, would eat here again!
