We stumbled upon this place while looking for something different and Reggae Hut did NOT disappoint. The portion was seriously out of control. Jerk Shrimp, shrimp were cooked perfectly, the jerk spice was INSANE. The veggies didn't just compliment the meal, they were good enough to rave about. The atmosphere here was also something to mention, the service was extremely friendly with that great Carribean music we all love.
First time here. I feel ashamed considering I’ve been in Houston all my life. Been in this area a billion times but had never ate here before. Let me tell you, I was definitely missing out. With it being my first time, the greeting was very welcoming and they gave good menu suggestions. We ordered the brown stew chicken, jerk chicken and curry chicken. All three were exceptional. The service was great and the food was delicious ?.That was a lot of food on the plate for the price we paid. They definitely were not giving stingy servings at all ?. This place is the bang for the buck. The music and patio is a vibe. If they had hookah service it would be too perfect. I’ll definitely be back and looking forward to it.
I had a to-go oxtails plate. The oxtail didn’t have that authentic Jamaican taste. Your meal comes with sides and you can choose two but plantains isn’t one of them. If you want plantains, it’s extra.I had beef and chicken Patties and they were also okay. The staff was nice !I wish I didn’t go use the restroom, it was gross!!!
Initial service wasn’t the quickest or friendliest, but the food came out within 10 minutes and it was HOT! The curry goat, steamed vegetables and rice and beans were good, so was the chicken curry and the stewed chicken. I definitely enjoyed my meal. I’ve had better carrot cake. It was about $50 for 3 dishes and 2 drinks. Pretty good. Portions were the perfect size.
Jerk Chicken was awesome, customer service was great.
Consistently great food. I love the oxtails!!!
This out of the way little restaurant did not at first impress me. Its a older place that looks a little run down and the music was loud and competed with the TV.Once I took a bite of the cabbage and veggies all of that was forgotten. The veggies were so good, nice and tasty with a slight crunch. I forgot about the noise and the rickety table and the warn floor. My taste buds were in heaven. My curry chicken was also very good. I started to wonder who I could bring here to enjoy the taste bud party. As I sit here I am contemplating get the same meal for dinner.Ignore the look and the loud music and take your mouth to a celebration. I plan on coming back as soon as I can.To cap it off the ginger beer punched me in the face. I love ginger beer. This little non descript bottle appeared on the table and held a tasty surprise. I have to find out who makes it so I can order more for my home. its simply fantastic.Great place. My partner enjoyed her meal as well.
If I could give ten stars, it still wouldn't be enough!!! The food was amazing and plenteous but even that was overshadowed by the customer service. I love LOVE all types of Caribbean food and have dined many places, this one tops them ALL! All of my food (with the exception of the rice and peas) was PERFECTLY seasoned with falling off the bone meat. The rice was a little on the sweet side for me, other than that ZERO complaints! My sister and I were greeted like royalty and treated like family as we paid for our carryout order. I look forward to getting back to Houston so we can dine in. Thank you so much for an AMAZING first experience. I wish you MUCH prosperity in the future!!!
Amazing as always. Spicy as needed. Jerk shrimp with peas and rice can't get anything else when I go, and of course a beef patty to enjoy at home later.
I will start by saying that the food is very tasty. However, the amount of food you get for the price is not worth it to me. I paid $28 for an oxtail meal that had a cup of rice, about 4 big pieces of oxtail, and a handful of veggies. This is highway robbery!! I know the price of oxtail has been raised everywhere, but I had still not seen prices for this amount of food till I came to this Jamaican restaurant. I have concluded that the location of the restaurant (downtown) must be a factor in the price. And a $1.50 packaging fee because I guess it was a to-go order? ? Again, the food is tasty, but the amount is not worth the price, so if you have other options, go elsewhere.
