We waited 15 for a hostess to arrive to seat us. After the hostess arrived, we waited 10 minutes to be seated. Then we waited 20 minutes for a server to come, which never happened. At this point, we decided to leave.

It was the worst experience. I am so embarrassed. I thought it would be a great idea to bring my fiancé to Prey Houston to celebrate his birthday. It was not. I made a reservation 2 weeks ago for 9pm. There was no room to wait and a server names Erin literally yelled at us for being in the wayâ¦the restaurant want small and the waiting area was full to capacity. It was extremely unwarranted. Hostess told us that specific table was ours and it just needed to be cleaned at 940p. Table was taken right in front of us by the family of the owner. After noticing this we inquired with the hostess who responded with âYou know how it is!â I am 7 months pregnant and so is my cousin. We continued to stand until they gave us another table that did not seat my party of six comfortably at all. Finally at 10p we got sat at a different table just to be told that they donât have non alcoholic drinks. Not even tea. We drank water. We were also told that they didnt have anymore steak along with a list of other things there were out of. To top it all off the food is wayyy over priced. And with all of the lacking they still tried to charge gratuity! It was a disaster! It was too late in the evening to go somewhere else but if we could have we definitely would have. We tried supporting this black owned business but unfortunately we wonât be back.

The shrimp and grits was not worth the $30 menu price. Brunch is pretty new for Prey. There are many improvements to make.
The ambience of Prey is beautiful â great for pictures! I would recommend Prey for a date night. Only rating 4 stars because the rice was a little undercooked and the seafood gumbo didnât have that much meat in it. If you are ordering the gumbo I would recommend doing so closer to open as they donât have much left in the evening (hence the lack of meat in the dish). Overall, really good experience. Thankyou to the chef and supervisor who kept my girl and I company towards the end of the night and made sure we got home safe!
When we walked in the hosts was engaged in her phone and didn't look up for a while when we first came in. Our server was friendly and offered good drink and food suggestions. The food came out quickly and food overall was good.
This was the most horrible experience at a restaurant that I have had in a long time. First, the service was very slow, the waitress lack of attention was horrible, steak was over cooked, and WAY OVERPRICED. Last night 2 of us had the shrimp (4 small shrimp) crab appetizer and the oxtail empanadas ( 3 total with little meat and a lot of breading), both were $18. 2 - cocktail martinis were ordered. The Filet King and Lamb chops were ordered. All together came to $238 and some change. People please read the fine print. It stated that if you order more than $75 worth of items, they charge an 18% gratuity. The waitress definitely did not deserve that amount. Next when I asked if I could get another steak because it was overcooked, she took out her phone, placed it over my food, and stated that it was cooked to what was asked. Apparently medium and well done are exactly the same at this establishment. Also when paying for the dinner, she did not give exact change, she kept a few dollars, and refused to give me my receipt. I figured it wasn't a lot and she may have needed it. Other issues occurred, but hopefully everyone get the idea. If management is reading this, it is paramount that you walk around and ask your guest if things are ok. I don't forsee this business hanging around for too many years if this continues. Oh and the food was decent for an over cooked steak. My food was very salty. Hope this help someone. Definitely not worth the money. Find another spot. I promise you will thank me later.
The ambience, the music, the service and food were great! We were late for my boyfriends birthday dinner with just the two of us and they were so accommodating. The waitress was great as well! Helped me surprise my bf with something sweet with a candle. So simple, but big because they donât usually do that. Will def recommend and return!
