Expensive but only place in town to get exotic meats like Ostrich & Kangaroo. Nice to have a Deli inside so I can eat and get meat too.
Always an Astounding Selection of Meats and Treats with an Exceptional Staff that's Helpful, Knowledgeable and Accommodating! Here Ownership leads by Example in their Customer Interaction and Service. To be honest, each visit feels more like a "drop in" to a Family member's than a transactional stop. And the Hot Deli is the ABSOLUTE Best! I HIGHLY Recommend the Buffalo Burger for the Healthiest of Appetites!!! Also, Be Certain to grab some of the Homemade Cookies to go!
First time shopping here, paid $40 for pork chops w/ strong boar taint odor.Came in to pick up some bone-in pork chops. Guy at the counter asked how I wanted it wrapped - I said “whatever is easiest, I’m cooking it when I get home.” So I thought it was odd when he vacuum-sealed the chops.I cooked the chops that day. I don’t think they sold me rotten pork (no sulfur smell and it tasted fine), but I think they sold me super cheap pork from an old boar and vacuum sealed it to mask the taint smell. My whole place smells like a mix of gamy-ness/body odor/and barnyard. It’s so pungent and unpleasant. Honestly, I feel stupid for paying that much for such poor quality meat.
I stopped by to try this place for a quick lunch. I had the best sliced bbq brisket sandwich I have ever eaten. The people were friendly.
The owner and staff were super nice and helpful. They kept asking us to try samples and even gave us some extra meat to take home and cook while we were checking out. The deli sandwich were also very tasty and the portion size was generous.
My husband has known Mike since 2011 and would come religiously everyday for lunch, before moving to Las Vegas. Now, everytime we are in town we HAVE to come and eat here.He preaches about his hospitality and great food to EVERYONE!!!! Everyone is super friendly. The meats are exemplary.Without a doubt best place for meat lovers.
I took time to do some research last year before Christmas and read several reviews of Pete's Fine Meats. I called ahead to make sure that they had a good loin tip roast or a good pice of meat to make me some good tender beef cutlets. When I arrived I was disappointed in the service and the selection of meat. They were not that busy but it took them 30 to 40 minutes for someone to help me. I finally talked to the head butcher. He seemed confused when I requested 7 to 8 lbs. of good lean beef cutlets to make chicken fried steak. He did not have a loin tip roast or a lean peeled knuckle which is the best cut to make cutlets from. He offered to cut them out of a beef tenderloin and said that he guaranteed no gristle or fat in these cutlets. I was a little disappointed but agreed to give them a try. He charged me over $8.00 a lb. when his listed price for beef cutlets was $6.25 a lb. That was strike #1. When I took them home and took them out of the package to cook them the meat had gristle and fat. That was strike #2. Very disappointed when you pay that much for a specialty cut a day have those results. I will not be back.
“Pete’s Fine Meats” OR “Fine pete, didn’t sell any Meat”I wanted to buy 6 lbs of beef short ribs. I was informed that they have “plates” ….. that’s fine. As a consumer that is willing to pay I was told that they “don’t split the plates”. I have no idea what that means nor care what a “butcher” can’t sell.I had to buy 9+ pounds….*I called beforehand and asked “do you have/sell beef short ribs”Man on phone “We have plenty of beef short ribs, come in!45 minute drive laterFine, don’t sell meat. Aka force me to buy 33% more than I want…I’ll go somewhere else. But a butcher that sells meat that can’t sell what the customer wants is absurd.Thought it was reasonable to express my disappointment. I was reminded “you know how long this place has been here” by a uninvolved patron..Spoke to who I assume was “Pete”Clearly Pete forgot what it is to do what he does best “ sell meat”. Apparently He has had so much success and has so much business that he has forgotten why he started this service in the first place.Good for you Pete. I hope I can afford one day to not consider those that contribute to getting you where you are today. A “little prince” (Actually, I’ll never be like that but that’s beside the point)I suspect 50 years ago when little Pete began this business he was grateful for every customer that came. 50 years later big Pete feels people should be grateful to be served by him.Shame on you Pete. I guarantee I’ll find what I’m looking for. I’ll guarantee I’ll never come to your location again. I’ll guarantee, when the opportunity presents. I’ll share my story of My experience at the Palace of PeteIt won’t matter in the end. Pete has built his Kingdom and has his servants now. And this “little guy” who wanted to buy meat won’t matter …. But Pete will read this eventually, and Pete will be at home looking back and feel exactly like he has become … a prince with a little “p”And I found exactly what I was looking for.And as I feed my family I’ll relish the conversation about pete and enjoy every bite
great service great food.
