This place absolutely lives up to the reviews. The interior is gorgeous, there's a lush bamboo-covered patio, and the food is amazing. If you want a lot of Sichuan flavor, definitely give this place a try. We had the red oil cucumber salad, the funky house noodles, and the red oil wontons, ordering just from the cold appetizers and street food menu for a quick lunch. Everything had that perfect sour/salty/spicy flavor combo I was looking for, and of course the numbing kiss of Sichuan peppercorns.
Amazing Sichuan food. Such a unique experience to have your mouth electrified by peppercorns. Everything on the menu is delicious and well done. Cool restaurant interior and great service. Macha crepe cake for dessert is wonderful
Always on a search for a good Sichuan spot. The mala was on point and everything we ordered as solid. Chow Mein noodles could have been better but the myriad of other dishes were fantastic. The spicy crispy chicken, Dan Dan, and the mushrooms were my top faves.Vibe- cool visual spot, Monday night though and it was eerie inside. No music was playing which created a weird atmosphere.
Four adults ready for good spicy Chinese food enjoyed a variety of flavorful meat and vegetarian dishes. Believe the menu notes re: level of spicyness - don’t attempt to eat at the hottest level unless you know for certain you will live. Order a crepe cake to split for dessert, as theirs is light and just sweet enough to end a lovely meal. Fab service. Incredible artwork on the 25 foot tall wall. There’s also a second floor they open if too busy for one floor. Fair prices. Wish I lived closer so we could come more often!
The food here was amazingly delicious!! Very nice staff, service was good and the food came out quickly. The eggplant in spicy garlic sauce was simply perfect. The dan dan noodles, mapo tofu and dry pot beef are also some of my favorite dishes. Highly recommend!
So damn tasty! My friend and I came for a late lunch. I wish I had taken pictures! Everything was amazing! Sichuan tofu. Noodles. Dumplings. Rice. All great. Staff was friendly and masked. Awesome interior. Prices seemed reasonable. Would absolutely 200% recommend!
Their Spicy chicken and deep fried shrimp were delicious! The spicy chicken is really spicy.
Very tasty food. If you like complex varieties of heat, you should add this to your top 5 spots. The service is nice, friendly and very attentive. The atmosphere is peaceful and pleasant. Great place for a 1st date or a business meeting. You'll be bonded by the heat!
Mala Sichuan is a great dinner spot. The whole menu has very reasonable prices and every dish I’ve had here has been excellent. On top of that the service was surprisingly quick and very friendly. I genuinely have no complaints for this place, and I will definitely be coming back as well as recommending it to anyone who wants a delicious spicy Asian dinner.Side note: they also do takeout!
The water boiled fish is out of this world. Never had anything like it, and we just had to come back and experience it again. Huge portions! The Sichuan pepper in the dish makes for a flavor rollercoaster, and Ming, our host of the experience was super polite, helpful and accommodating. Definitely my favorite spot to eat in Houston!
