My favorite place to eat... but went for my birthday and I wont be back. Service is ridiculous. Even got charged for a Togo cup that they labeled as a new beverage. My favorite dish wasn't available, so they gave me something "similar" without telling me until it was served in front of me. Ridiculous!!!
Love it here. It’s always a crowd but the move very quickly. The food is consistently good a well as the service. I usually don’t order drinks but my family member wanted one while we waited for our name to be call. The bartender was extremely rude and ignored her, then told her no I can’t fix you a drink. My hubby then went to the bar & he fixed the drink for him. So because of that I took off a star.We ordered #97, I always get this dish. It’s a filet mignon with veggies. Our table also had Mongolian beef, & fried rice.
Wanted to pickup something before the eateries closed downtown. Made a quick run to Mai's and picked up some Curry Tofu. Unfortunately, I couldn't substitute rice and get vegetables instead. It wasn't a big deal, life goes on. Made it back to the office and found that the rice was in a separate container so it worked out. I gave the rice to someone else and proceeded to eat the Tofu. It was pretty good.
Goi cuon (spring rolls) with shrimp - The noodles and wrap is fresh with a great texture. Peanut sauce is pretty standard, and I wish they would add a basil leaf and a cucumber stick or something for a little extra flavor, but overall it's a good experience and worth ordering again. Points for size as well 7/10Cha gio (Vietnamese egg rolls) - real mvp. Light and crispy rice paper wrapped around a good serving of pork filling with a great flavor. The light sauce that comes with it is soaked up by the paper and accentuates the flavor very well. Best egg rolls I have encountered, and we will be ordering them every time from now on.Pho tai nam bo vien (all the meat pho) - good broth, good portion, comes with normal fixings. I was pleased by the amount of meat. Solid pho, would order again.Bun Thor nuong cha gio - (grilled pork with egg rolls) amazing. The pork is flavorful, the noodles are excellent, and you get more of those crazy awesome egg rolls. I would get extra sauce to go with it.Banh mi bo ko (beef stew with French bread) - also excellent and a good portion though it does appear smaller when presented.Overall I was impressed and am excited to try more things, we will be back.
The waitress was very rude. She marked with a pen on my kids cups with x’s and when we asked why she rolled her eyes. We walked out and didn’t even order. I would definitely not recommend!!!!
The food came rather quickly. They had amazing pho! My friend ordered their shrimp fried rice, and it wasn’t the best. The service was also a bit odd, and they didn’t bring us water until we asked once. At that point, all our food was already brought out. They also sat us in a corner in the back… The ambience was alright, but nothing spectacular. Overall, I’d give it a 3.5, with the food being a 4 and the service being a 3.
great service. food was excellent
Best Pho in Houston! Great & Fast service. Very awesome place. Went at 2:30am after club. Smart to stay open this late!
Mais is the Best Vietnamese Restaurant in Houston !!!! Food is always amazing and fresh !! Service is Top Notch !! Never had a bad experience!! Family Favorite!! 6 STARS!!!
Love this place! If you can’t decide what to order then just say this: lychee martini, spring rolls, and the shaking beef. Salt and pepper shrimp is also super yum. Always delicious and a must while in Houston. They’re always pretty busy so sometimes food and service can take a while. That’s what the martini is for, just be patient and it will be worth it
