We had an amazing experience at Lopez Mexican Restaurant! The service is first class, they did an excellent job of taking care of us. They got our orders out to us very fast, and we had a group of 12! I would definitely go back, and I recommend them for a large group! The only setback is that it can be very loud during the day, so it's not the place for an intimate, personal date during the day. But to me, it shows that they get a lot of business because of their service. The menu is very good, with authentic Mexican dishes and Tex-Mex as well. The prices are very reasonable, and there is adequate parking as well.

I have been going to Lopez since 1979 when they were in the strip center by the BBQ place. They have the best food, service and prices in the Houston area. I've never been disappointed in the 43 years of going here.
We ordered vegetarian quesadilla and emphasized we are vegetarian. They say they prepare vegetarian / vegan meals in a separate part of the kitchen. Yet our order arrived with a piece of chicken in it. What makes it worse is that we didn't receive a "chicken quesadilla" - which would mean they just got the order wrong. We were served a vegetarian quesadilla with just one piece of chicken on the edge which could easily have gone unnoticed into our mouth. We are vegetarian by Faith - Hindus - and even one piece of chicken or just touching our food with chicken/meat is a huge deal breaker. We spoke to the manager and she could not understand how the mistake happened because they prepare vegetarian meals in a different part of the kitchen. So how did that meat get into our dish? If they don't know how it happened, they won't be able to fix the problem. It will keep on happening. My suggestion about how it might have happened is that there could be a 'bad actor' in their staff who did this as a prank on vegetarians and vegans. Or perhaps the servers carried out a meat dish along with ours and a piece of meat was knocked from that dish into ours. I now feel hesitant to dine at Lopez because of this disconcerting incident. Management, please respond.
Good service, good food, very clean facilities, nice ambiance, easy parking.The beef fajitas were thick and very juicy and tender. I highly recommend those.The refried beans are really good.The guacamole has chuncks of tomatoes in it and is creamy and thin, must have cream in it? I didn't really like it.I do recommend this place for good Mexican food.
I am a person that usually doesn't leave feedback because my time is very limited but this restaurant if I could give them 0 stars I would.From starters the customer service is awful, I don't know if it may be because we are Hispanics (but isn't this restaurant Tex-Mex?). First the hostess wanted to sit us all the way to the back, when we asked for a different table she seemed bothered and threw the menus on the table. We went ahead and stayed because we have read great reviews of Lopez Restaurant, so we gave them the benefit of the doubt. Our server/waitress greeted us and we really thought it was going to turn out to be a great meal. I asked for a Queen drink (which I must say it is a very beautiful drink, but wait to see what happens). The server brings us the drinks and also our appetizer which was the Queso. Tell me why the lady server, slams the drinks on to the table putting the waters and the other drinks on top of the menu while I was reading it. The fruit that decorated my drink literally fell into the salsa and she did not even apologize. She continued to put the utensils and napkins on top of my menu instead to the corresponding person. This was only the drinks and appetizers.When it came to the food, we ordered Fajita for 1 (which was cold, there was no sizzle to it and the bean with rice seemed like they were sitting for a long time). The other entrees we order were hot but also served in a very rude manner.I am very disappointed with this restaurant, very bad customer service and also the food is not the best. What I cannot explain, is the owners are Latino (I have read their story on the Lopez website), the employees are Latino, why give other Latinos the worse service?
Visiting Houston, my girlfriend loves going to this restaurant with friends. We had the Lopez dinner (lunch) and took half home for later. Worth the trip.
It's a nice looking place wait staff is happy and Food comes out quick but sometimes lately I am not liking the quality of the meat thatcomes on the dishes. It's easy to say it's good when you disguise the meat in all those cheesy creamy enchiladas and cheese smothered dishes but when u get to just the meats in the core. I think they can do better for the price one pays.
