me and my sister love egusi soup and pounded yam and were exited to see that there was a restaurant inner loop that had it. the beef was tough and dry, the egusi was fine but it had a random piece of fish in it, in the yam we found a hair. it was also very expensive, not worth $20+ for a single order of egusi which would be fine if the meal was of quality. overall it was disappointing.

Having waited for an hour for a White Rice/assorted meat, the food was not served and i left hungry/angry. They could not return my money and could not give me an alternative. I felt so salty that I had to waste my time with this restaurant.Highly UNPROFESSIONAL staff (Trizah and her manager) and flies everywhere.TBH - If you have an option, please go somewhere else. They did not feel bad they cheated me and I feel salty because they stole my hard-earned $

My goodness, y'all need to hit this place up. Delicious and authentic food, helpful and friendly service. The Beef Pie is baking show winner quality, a crisp pastry around that packed in beef and seasoning... Fantastic. I got the Jollof Rice plate with chicken (spicy) and it was tasty to the max with enough spice to give the slow burn. Next time I will ask for more spice!Check their hours so you don't show up too early or on an off day. You will not be disappointed!

I LOVE their food when it's fresh and hot. I would've taken off four stars for the Sunday I planned a group meet up at JRK. All the cars drove there from all over Houston only to find them Closed at 3pm on a vibrant Sunday afternoon! What nonsense. They directed us to drive across town to Taste of Nigeria. Sigh..the audacity.Tried to order lunch for a potluck at work but JRK is closed on Mondays all day and on weekdays till 11am/noon. Sigh.I still love my first ever experience with them so I'll give three stars, and hope this doesn't happen again. I'm coming again with a group this Sunday and no one is picking my calls cos they are Closed on Mondays.

Jollof Rice was delicioussssss! As a Nigerian, I can attest that this was definitely the perfect party jollof. Entire plate was fantastic (had Jollof rice and chicken)! I was really glad about the good service too. Our food was presented beautifully and we were even given water to wash our hands after. Extremely pleasant staff and environment!

Trying to eat the rest of my food, hoping it’ll taste better after adding some salt. I couldn’t help but feel the urge to post a review with hopes that maybe the owners will make changes. The egusi soup had my mouth in a weird state. Not only was the soup oily and lacking a little bit of taste, the oil sticks to your mouth and just leaves a weird sensation I. The mouth, like it’s still raw. Anyway, the meat was stellar so I ate the meat and tossed the soup:

Nice place....Good feel of Naija ?

I waited an hour for cold food. The Jollof rice was hard and was not fresh. The portion size was small. The stew was not fried long enough so it was very sour/ acidic it was like eating tomato soup from the can.. the goat pepper soup was like I went to a friends place to eat.. not special at all.. the egusi was weird and didn’t taste nice at all! Everything was cold and overpriced! The goat pepper soup was the only thing hot!! I guess bc of location they jack up prices! I sent everything back except for the pepper soup and Jollof rice plate sadly! I drove an hour to try this place for my my bf’s birthday only to be embarrassed and time wasted. Not sure who bought these reviews but this isn’t close to the Nigerian food I’m accustomed to. I’ve wasted time, gas, energy and space in my stomach. Very disappointed! I REPEAT PRICE GAUGE/ OVERPRICED! I shouldn’t be responsible for paying your lease.. $20.99 goat pepper soup etc chop my money but feed me well.. instead my money dey finish.

This was my first time trying African Food..my 48th birthday was 12-07-21. So, I wanted to venture out. I drove from LaMarque Texas to try this spot. Me and the cashier talked about a good first timmers meal and I chose the Egusi soup with Chicken and Pounded Yam, with an Hibiscus Drink.I enjoy the experience..and ate half and then I later that week ate the other half and it was an even better experience the second time. I look forward to getting my palate used to trying other African dishes and learning more History of how the food is prepared.I Love that this is Black ? Owned. Keep up the good work, and stay strong..❤️??✊?????

OVER PRICED! They give meager portions of meat and a ton of rice and plantains as fillers. They charge 2 dollars for water . The service is terrible. One person doing the order taking and serving. I paid 12 bucks for okra soup. Okra is cheap and there was no meat in the soup. The over pricing is ridiculous. My oxtails were so tough I broke my plastic fork. They wouldn't refund me and told me my only option was to get chicken as a replacement. The tables are not cleaned right away because there is only one person working the front. It's very small and not enough seating. I will never return. Horrible experience. The owner was on the phone with a dissatisfied customer as I paid. I wish I could give ZERO stars. These other reviews can't be real, I'm sure it's them fluffing the reviews. This place looks like a money laundry storefront type of restaurant. There is no real cooking going on here and it seems scam like. UPDATE notice the owner has never acknowledged me, no apologies or anything. This place is a scam and front for laundering money. DO NOT EAT HERE. The positive reviews you see here is the owner having people write them. All lies. No review troll here. It doesn't matter how long you've been closed my experience doesn't change. What an unprofessional response. Thanks for proving my point. So the owner changed her rude response to something nice. Wonder why she changed it. Leave that unprofessional mess up
