This is authentic Mexican food (although high-end). The ambiance isn’t the greatest but the food, the cocktails, and the service is amazing. Jesus G. was our sever. He was extremely proud and knowledgeable about Mexican food and drinks. He knew the history behind much of what we ate and drank and came up with great recommendations. He definitely went above and beyond to make our experience very special. I would highly recommend Hugo’s for upscale casual Mexican fare. Impecable good and service!
Although yes, it's a Mexican restaurant I can't help myself to always order the scallops! They are seared to perfection. The sauce underneath has a smokey flavor and it boosts the sear of the scallops so well. It's fresh and delicious. I suggest you valet park.
Loved the chapulines! Service was excellent and friendly. Food was flavorful and unique.
We came in as a slightly larger party of people, with family who were coming in from out of town, and this restaurant was both super accommodating and very friendly for our lively party with diverse tastes. The food was outstanding! The menu isn't as big as some other Mexican restaurants, but the food was original (pan-sautéed grasshopper; roasted goat), and they have a good vegetarian section. Even though this restaurant was busy, it wasn't overly loud, so we could still all hear each other talk. Their wine recommendations were fantastic!
This is my first time to Hugo’s and I am definitely planning to come back here again because the food and service was excellent! ?????My family really enjoyed their meals and our server Victor gave us ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 star service.Víctor explained the menu options and he gave us excellent recommendations based on what we were wanting to dine. The food was very tasty and my children were really happy with their kids meals. The food is all fresh and organic and the food is specifically from south Mexico from the state of Oaxaca. The manager came by to see how we were enjoying our food and gave us a very warm welcome. If you have never been here you should come see what you have been missing out.
Great food and service was great.
To summarize: everything was great. Appetizers, Main entrees, desserts, margaritas on the rocks and wine. Great service! Great atmosphere !Highly recommend this restaurant.
Gotta love Hugo’s. Such a talented chef, with unique flavors that you can’t find anywhere else. Larga vida a la cocina mexicana de excelencia.
We had one of the best restaurant experiences in our travels because of Ignacio. He is an exceptional manager and host. While sitting at the bar, he shared with us the background and history of the restaurant,‘made succinct recommendations from the menu, made spectacular cocktails, and give us just an all-around warm welcome. He and his staff did an outstanding job of making sure we had the best experience possible and they work very hard to make it an exceptional. The differentiator though, is his warm and friendly nature.
We were traveling through town and decided to stop for dinner at Hugos and we are happy we did. We had the guacamole and salsa with chips to start. It was very good. I had a Paloma and my friend had 2 margaritas and we both enjoyed them. I had the ceviche verde and the Pulpo Al Carbon (octopus) appetizer and it was excellent. My friend had the chicken taquito appetizer and the tortilla soup and she loved it. We shared the churros and after everything else it was underwhelming. I also had the Cafe de Olla and it was very good. I would definitely recommend this restaurant if you are in Houston.
