It's about the same quality of ice cream that you can make at home. This place is promoted a lot because it's one of the only small businesses on Main Street that makes ice cream.The ice cream can be chunky and might taste like artificial syrup. It's hit or miss with their flavors.

On 11/4, I called Hanks ice cream to see if they were going to be open on 11/05. Because I have experienced closures on two separate occasions, I didn't want to make a blank trip. The lady was rude when I called and had an complete attitude for no reason. She said they would be open from 12-7.Fast forward. Went to Hanks ice cream on 11/05, in traffic down Main St from The Astroworld Festival! lol. Went inside with my order. There was no one inside, no line. I had 14 orders of regular one scoop ice creams, same flavor. The lady told me and my co workers that she will not fill our order and that we should have called. Ok no problem. Asked if we could call it in and wait for her to make it, no rush. She replied that she was not going to complete our order, stating that the ice cream was too hard to scoop out. As we started to leave out the door she said she would do half of the order and come back for the rest. I was like I work in Med Center, that does not make sense. Mind you, I said that I would wait. We end up leaving unhappy with no ice cream. I have always been a big supporter of this establishment, but I can't say when the next time I will return. Maybe never!
People working there are ruining the business. Great ice cream, horrible customer service. They are always closed during business hours. Don’t even try to go there a half hour before close, they are never there.In the middle of the day there will often be a sign saying they are out, be back at whatever time posted. Usually you can see the employees sitting inside looking at you like your bothering them by being there during posted business hours.Poor Hank worked so hard to create a great business that lasted the test of time just to have incompetent employees run it into the ground.I really hope they aren’t family, if so, why would you ruin your own family’s business.
I was a long time customer of Hank's ice cream! But today was a sad ending! I walk in had not said a word to anyone I was on the phone asking my wife what did she want and was address by some lade in the dinning area, " don't be order no big orders because it's just us two here and we are not doing big orders"! So I address the person that I was talking to and rudely push out of door with the older lady with lots of makeup on told me to never come back! It happen so quick I didn't even know what happen because I never even talk to anyone!I am sadden about this and I know Mr. Hank is too he worked hard for that business and it's gone done hill! ??
Long time customer...i was treated so rudely basically pushed out of the shop because I was on the phone telling what flavors were available. I wasn't even talking to the two ladies behind the counter when one lady started saying how they not taking big orders. OMG i have never been treated so rudely in my life...Hank's ice cream has definitely went downhill thanks to the worst customer service ever.
On at least on 3 to 4 occasions when arrive during business hours there is a sign on the door that says we will be back at a specified time. Specifically, today I arrive the door was locked and I didn’t see anyone so I knocked and someone came from the back and wrote a note while I was standing there that said we will be open at 2pm. She never opened the door to communicate with me, she just placed the signed there. I don’t live in the area so I occupied my time for almost an hour and returned at 1:56 only to see her driving out the parking lot with a sign on the door that says we will be open tomorrow at 12. The Ice Cream is GREAT, however the business etiquette is starting to slack. I run a business as well and respecting your customers time is valuable. The solution is simple either adjust the business hours or hire help!
