If you're looking for good food near the airport, this is where you need to go. Great atmosphere, service, and food. Food so good I almost devoured it before I got a picture to post.
Went in for lunch and was highly disappointed. First my order was incorrect and they charged me for two pastas when I ordered one. The gumbo was nasty and tasted like dirty chicken broth and was served cold. The crawfish ettouffee was nasty. It was mainly sauce and there was hardly any crawfish. The pasta sauce was supposed to be made with Alfredo sauce and it was brown and broken. The manager asked how the food was and I told him the truth and nothing was done. We threw all of the food away. I wasted 65.00. After driving off I threw up in my car. If I could leave 0 stars I would. Don’t be fooled by the name, this is not Cajun food.
I would recommend this location for a lunch time visit. I came by this location as a result of a recommendation from the local hotel. We walked to this location and found the restaurant with a few people already seated inside eating...a good sign since it was lunch time. We immediately located the specials and the menu. A worker at the register spoke with us about the options available. We selected our lunch items and sat at a table to wait for our order number to be called out. We received the food hot and inspected out containers to see which one is our designated meal. I selected the fish with red beans and rice. My spouse selected the chicken and sweet potato fries. Both meals were great and on time. The workers were capable and worked well to get our order out. The line cook was outside on break and inquired if everything was ok. We said yes and we were happy to see the follow up by the worker/owner/interested party.
Ordered the Ahi steak shrimp Étouffée was delicious the only thing is that they were super swamped and we had to buss our own table The gumbo was delicious! Very light rue but very tasty

Just started a new job, been looking for some restaurants near by for lunch. I was looking for Chinese food, but I came across a cajun restaurant. A kid from Louisiana, had to try it. So I ordered two crawfish tacos w/ a small cup of gumbo added a drink. That ended up being $15 something. Don't get me wrong, the food is delicious. But come down on the prices.
Thank you Gumbo Jeaux for offering me a refund. I am not in Houston. I was working there in March during the rodeo. Even though the meal did not suit my taste I hope people will see this post and visit your restaurant and try their favorite dish. I accept your gesture to refund the purchase of my meal. Because of your kind gesture we will call it even. Best to you and I wish you prosperity.
The food is freshly prepared! We ordered smothered catfish and seafood platter! The gumbo rice was so good!! The french fries that comes with the platter is on point! Catfish and shrimps were fried well! The iced tea was also nice. We are satisfied but the wait was abit longer even at 4pm! So be prepared to wait longer during lunch or dinner time! But it’s worth it!
Do yourself a favor and visit this splendid restaurant! The hospitable service is unmatched. The staff truly cares about your experience. The food is absolutely amazing – everything we tasted melted in our mouths. Absolutely the best meal we had while in Houston. Highly recommend! P.S Don’t leave without a piece of cake!
I forgot to take a picture because my shrimp was smelling so good. I didn't realize they were about to close but the guy was so helpful with me to place my order. I only ask him if the shrimp was good and I'm kicking myself because every dish that came out of the kitchen looked great. I had excellent service and the best large juicy fried shrimp I could ask for I can't wait to go back again.
