We had the “Big Night Out” menu for two of us, seven courses all together. It doesn’t seem like a lot of food from photos but it was super filling. Ingredients are super fresh and my favourite dishes were Salmon and Caviar with tuna tartare. I’d recommend this restaurant for all the raw fish / sashimi lovers.
My friend and I came here because we have good thing about the seafood here. So we got a few dishes to try and all them were impressive. the Norwegian salmon where a Japanese flavor twist was really good and the whole fried fish was fried really well. The raw oysters was really fresh tasting. I would come back again in the try other stuff on the menu.
This is one of the best restaurants here so far. Wow! East coast oysters!! But I’m sad to say they don’t have regular cocktail sauce :( please pretty please ? ok the sauce they serve ( which is a spicy house made) and a traditional vinegar sauce are good, however I guess regular cocktail sauce just isn’t trendy, idk? I had lunch at a vegan restaurant prior which I will not even do a review on because they didn’t have a variety of vegetable dishes (go figure) but I was at my eating limit already, however my significant other was really hungry and she loves her east coast oysters! We definitely will be frequenting this restaurant! I already know what I’m going to get next time we are in the area. Check out my pics! Look at that humongous piece of tuna! Wow ! That’s eye candy for ya!
Very rude gentleman running the register and serving the food. Asked him for the scallops to go and specifically told him I was ordering for my mom who wasn’t here. Gives me the food served on a plate. Told him I ordered to go and he says “this is how we do to go”. Told him I don’t understand how you want me to take this and then he hands me a to go container and says pack it yourself. Told him this is poor service and I wouldn’t come back here to which the response was “do whatever you want”.On a side note, for $32, you would think a plate would look more substantial than what’s pictured here.
WoW!!! What a fantastic experience it was to dine at Golfstrømmen. Right from the beginning the waitstaff was attentive, courteous and sincere about your comfort and what was to be expected from this dining experience. They explained the menu options including drinks and aperitifs. We were also privileged to sample a newly executed menu option of fish birria tacos…OMG!!WoW!!!Golfstrømmen is your go to for a very unique seafood experience. On the high end of the price point but if you’re like me and you’re accustomed to this already, you will have no issues here.Truth is, it’s well worth it. The chefs and staff are killing it!I have to add, if you come to Post Houston to dine, expect to be surrounded by a very diverse and eclectic menagerie of people from all areas of society. This is what make Post Houston popular and fresh! Be sure to take your time walking around, visit the rooftop and just have fun.
The food is good so far, but let’s not forget that is located in a food court and they charge as a restaurant. I mean Post is a nice place but not fine donning, expect to spend over $70 per person plus tip - they charge you separately drinks and food what’s is double tip of course.Portions are poorly, I mean for a $65 fish you would expect at least one side, c’mon is not a stake house!Avoid ordering wine per glass, it is also poorly served.I spend over $130 just for me, and to be honest I will never eat there again and is not for the price is because it’s not worth it.
This was my first visit to the new POST building. There was plenty of parking space in multiple lots. It was free to park at this time although looking at the gates they installed, it looks like they might start charging for parking in the future. When you walk inside the main food court entrance, this restaurant will be about halfway down the right side. They have their own seating area in their space. The staff were all very friendly, although service felt a bit slow at times. The ambiance was nice. They have lots of delicious looking seafood on display. The clams were fresh and delicious. My favorite part of dinner was the crab toast. They were very generous with the crab meat. Because the bread is flat, it would have helped make it easier to eat if they had cut up the lettuce leaves a bit. I'd order it again. The lobster toast was good, similar to a lobster roll. Again, the flat bread made it tricky to eat without everything falling off the toast. The Bok Choy side was really tasty. Kind of reminded me of a seafood laksa without the noodles. The Bok Choy was cooked slightly too long so it was missing that nice crunch you like to get, but the staff was receptive of the feedback so that probably won't be an issue going forward. Overall, the food was delicious. Note the pricing might be a turn off for some. You are paying for the quality of the food so it can be a little expensive.
You won’t regret it. Everything we ate was amazing. Andre and the crew are killing it.
Great foods and good vibes. Highly recommended.
Overall disappointing. Maybe I had too high expectations. I LOVE all the recent creativity of food in Norway. And the new Nordic places in NYC have done a great job of bringing the philosophy over here. Not much of that creativity at this spot: the lobster bisque with puff pastry been done on East Coast since the 90’s, but only two pieces lobster here with a huge, strange biscuit. Staff not up on where a lot of seafood sourced from, but sourcing doesn’t seem to be a focus so not a surprise. Although they are not open about where their seafood is from, I assume the ubiquitous redfish and salmon are farmed, which is fine, but not at this price point. Quality of seafood not impressive: Jonah crab is low end product, flown in from East Coast. The crab was mushy and likely frozen, while better quality, sustainable local options available. Would be interesting to see what a Scandi chef could do with our local blue crab, but it seems he has just loaned his name and a couple signature crudo sauces to this soon-to-close pop up, didn’t really explore much local. At this price point you are basically sitting in a mall food court. We ate $30 sandwiches and biscuit, while the mall trash can was cleaned 2 feet away. The very young staff is friendly but inexperienced.
