This place is a lot of fun. I was there with my girlfriend last night and we had some warm sake, sushi, and some beef udon soup. The food is affordable- And I was surprised to see that our bill wasn’t so expensive. You just said and when your turn to sing they will bring the microphone over to you. Definitely recommend.
Classic Japanese karaoke bar. Got to give his place five stars. It's never changed in years. Could be bad. Could be good. Little bit gritty. This is a very big hotspot for karaoke. Generally, a younger crowd. WhoFood's pretty cheap drinks are cheap. No bar as of July 2022. They do have a bar but It's closed. The only option available are tables. Should be good for solo visitors once the bars reopens.
Just went there tonight first time after 15 years. Food is still good and same owner and hope they can keep this place going!
Anybody that knows about Genji's just freaking knows. Surprisngly good cheap Japanese food and drinks. The karaoke is awesome. And the vibes are lit. Do not come if you want 5-Star service. Genji's is a bit "homey" in a sense. In a good way. It's living room hospitality, not restaurant hospitality, so everything is not always perfect. But you'll always have a great time.
I've spent many nights at Genji even at their prior location. The karaoke is a nice touch but for me, it's the food that really brings me back here!
Coming here is never a bad idea! You'll always have a good time here. There are karaoke rooms you could use by the hour or simply hang out in the lobby to sing. The food here is pretty good and affordable too! I love how there are many options on the menu without it being overwhelming. The servers are attentive and always making sure we have what we need. This is a great spot for anyone looking for some fun to do in Houston!
Legit best food I've had in all of Houston. 10/10 grilled squid, garlic edamame, all of the sushi, service AMAZING
Their food is not that great. Sushi was bland and chicken tasted like cheapfrozen chicken. The service is okay. No free refill, not even for small hot tea. The only thing good is the curry udon. They also bully you into tipping :/
Good food, low prices, karaoke, and nice cocktails. Favorite spot now for late nights.
My husband and I have been here a few of times. The waitresses are always friendly and helpful.Our go to food items to recommend are: the gyutan (beef tongue), macaroni gratin, isobeage (deep fried fish cake), tempura, seafood salad and the salmon tartare comes with chips and is very delicious! ? For dessert the cheesecake topped with ice cream. If you haven't tried sake before they sell Lychee Sake, it's sweet and fruity.Now, aside from food the bathrooms always stinks and the smell seems to come from the drains, personally this is the only issue to mention.
