The food is so flavorful! I had the first plate of chicken spaghetti I've had in 10 years, and it was delicious. They also have Ox tail that is the best in the city.Heads up: the sweet tea is SWEET
I love this place. Best soulfood in Houston. They make sure they stuff your plate, not shaking the spoon on you like Mikki's do. The food is cooked to perfection, full of flavor, and great price. I try going here at least once a week. I love it
Definitely has to be a family longtime standing business with loyal customers because the service and food IS NOT GOODWhen I called and ordered the lady was very rude over the phone, we decided to go ahead and go in and eat. Well the food looked okay besides the flies crawling across the rice. It wasn’t good, definitely been under the lights a long time?? I ordered fried zucchini and attached the picture of the soggy zucchini I got, the fish was really big fillets but come to find out that was all crust …
Good ? still have food for tomorrow’s lunch .. did a separate order at the bar ( preach lemon drop with boudin eggrolls $23$)
The food was so delicious! We didn't have to wait long. 10 mins or less. We took our food to go. There was plenty of seating available inside and outside. The walk up window wasn't busy either. Today was a great day to go sit outside and eat. The inside was very clean. The staff was welcoming and generous with the food. I got the last of the sweet tea. Made it just in time. The best food!
I was very disappointed in my meal. The food was under seasoned, that includes the turkey wing, gravy, greens and mac and cheese. Let’s not forget the fried fish, it was under seasoned and overcooked!! I HAVE to mention the corn bread, it was burnt and of course hard!! I’ve never seen anything like it!! I’m not even sure it was actually cornbread!! SMH This was my first time patronizing this establishment and due to my unsatisfactory experience, it will be my last.
New location is beautiful. It’s separated by restaurant style dining which has the buffet side and the bar side for drinks.I ordered two separate plates:Plate 1: oxtails, double mac & sweet potatoes. Cornbread inc.Plate 2: smothered pepper steak and rice, greens, and corn. Cornbread inc.Pros: fresh, all side dishes were delicious, cornbread included, lemon cake deliciousCons: both meats were tough to eat. The pepper steak and rice I threw away because both were extremely tough. Rice was definitely not done. I was rushed to order and there was absolutely nobody else in line but me.I paid roughly $60. Sadly it was not worth $60 flavor and quality wise but I understand why it came out to be that price because the amount of food you get. I’m not sure I’ll ever return but if I do it will only be for the mac n cheese and the sweet potato’s.They relocated. 5007 N Shepherd Dr, Houston, TX 77018. M-Su 11-8.
Every bite was delectable and delicious. My husband ordered the oxtails dinner, and he stated it was the best he has had! The cabbage and black eye peas were tasty! The cornbread melted in his mouth! Pictured is the pepper steak with mustard greens and macaroni and cheese! OMG I could eat the greens by themselves with the cornbread! We were thoroughly pleased and will be back! Also he ordered the banana pudding; creamy deliciousness with the Nabisco Nilla wafers
The food is great. Very tasty. Generous portions. The serving line is a bit sluggish. Suggestions: allow to-go orders at the patio window. Take to-go orders from individuals online.
