It’s always a pleasure to go to El Rey.The food is great with a very reasonable price. The must for us is the Famous Chicken tortilla soup, the guacamole and the lemonade. You need to try that. Great service, very clean and they are open late.

I hit El Rey up at least once a week. Their grilled fish tacos on wheat tortillas with added avocado are my got to order although everything here is great and most of it s what I would consider healthy. My 3 year old daughter loves the rotisserie chicken tacos, husband loves the fajita tacos, the ropa vieja plate is awesome. When you dine in the place is always clean and the service is always relatively fast.

Great little place to have a quick bit and the staff was awesome...Well until next time signing off Two Peas

Ordered chicken gaint burrito. Food was bland and the salsas were bland to match. Burrito was plenty but filled with fillers like rice and beans. Also over priced. I paid almost 14 bucks for a burrito no drink. In Houston mexican/cuban food had a certain standard and this isnt it. 2 stars for portion size, service and location.

El Rey Taqueria is a Cuban Mexican Cuisine restaurant. We ordered online. We ordered Carne Asada which is served with Mexican Rice, Charro Beans, Lettuce, Pico De Gallo & Tortillas. The carne asada was juicy and perfectly done. We also ordered Three Amigos which is served as the choice of 3 Tacos with a side of Mexican Rice & Charro Beans. So we chose Beef Fajita Taco, Cuban Taco (Beef Fajita with Black Beans) and Ropa Vieja Taco (Shredded Beef). A variety of tacos provide different flavors. To be honest, this is the best Cuban Mexican Restaurant that I have ever tried in Houston. The food portion was just perfect for one. The food was hot, fresh, and delicious. The food presentation was good and perfectly organized.I highly recommend this restaurant. Hope to have a dine-in soon.

Food still tastes good, but boy have they changed! Hadn’t been in about a year and the Large tortilla soup had less than half my palm of chicken. 80% of it was truly just broth no cheese. They used to knock it out of the park, but now it just isn’t worth it. The fish and shrimp tacos the same a fraction of the portion they used to serve and the prices continue to increase. Salmon salad they even skimped us on fresh mango! They always put fresh mango in their salads. Just really disappointing I tried to reach a manager, but they had closed and no one has attempted to correct so had no choice but to let public know what to expect.

This is a place to definitely pass up. Fajitas where super tough. Wasn't seasoned. The rice and beans where not all that. Tortillas sucked. No Margaritas. They can definitely do better.

Great Breakfast Tacos & Food. A must stop every time I’m in Houston.

I drove to El Rey on Bunker Hill to buy 2 large orders of Chicken Tortilla soup. The place is 25 minutes from where I live. I get home and open the soup to find it’s more soup than Chicken. Why would I desire to pay almost 20 for 2 orders of liquid mostly. It’s a shame that I have to start checking the quality of my food before leaving the premises. Well they are too far to bring back. That’s on me. Hope this helps the next person who is deciding.Do better. You are not just selling to me but potentially to everyone reading this review.

Normally I would rate El Rey 4.5 or 5 because I love their fish tacos. I can’t get here very often. But on Sunday morning at 11:30, I couldn’t get my faves because they were cooking bacon. No fish or shrimp. What???!!! It was lunch time too, not just breakfast. I asked how long to wait and they didn’t know, because they had run out of bacon and had to cook more. So I guess if you get breakfast here, you know it’s fresh…
