We toured all the restaurants at POST Houston. Chop'NBlock was giving out free samples. Delicious! So we ordered & enjoyed this great high cuisine comfort food! Will be back again!
We went in for dinner. This is the first time we tried the West African cuisine. It was a genius stroke by the restaurant to offer bite sized taste cup where we go to try their hibiscus lemonade (which was absolutely divine), their jambalaya (fried rice), a sweet plantain item (loved it), and a coconut milk based curry (delicious too). We enjoyed tasting all these items. We decided to order the Trad bowl which contains grilled chicken, jambalaya (fried rice), the sweet plantain, and steamed vegetables (cauliflower, brussel sprouts). It doesn't come with a gravy. Good thing is that they display samples of all the bowls they offer so you can choose whichever seems the most appealing. The ambience is so AMAZING that it transports you to Africa. They have transformed a small space to give you an authentic African experience. We absolutely loved it. Especially the small touches with the decorative ceiling, the book shelf, the chairs and the wallpaper. If you're at Post, definitely don't miss this place!
Great spot and good service. Every time I have walked by they have had a food demo out front if you are curious to try something before buying. I opted for the Trad bowl. Rice bowl with Chicken, curry some veggies and sweet plantain with some smoky rice. It was great! I was also stuffed when finished. Good prices range from $14 to $18 for their bowls.
Visited 4/30/2022...The food was excellent and the owner was so attentive and great customer service. The line moved quickly and the food was worth it. Definitely will visit again. I wish the owners great success and hope they expand to their own location soon.
We were immediately drawn in by the lady handing out samples. Per her recommendation, we ordered The Motherland and subbed the white rice for jambalaya and added chicken. It was truly one of the best things I have ever eaten. It was so good that we went back to POST the next day even though we hadn't planned to just so we could order it again. The second day, we ordered it with the white rice and it was delicious too! We also tried the Minnie Pies which were excellent. We tried items from multiple stalls at POST and this was hands down the best! The owner was walking around talking to customers and he was very friendly and personable.
Fantastic place to eat. I ordered the Trad. The combination of the chicken, jambalaya rice, stewed plantains, and vegetables was magnificent. I had them add a little curry (they were sampling along with the and stewed plantains) which gave the plate an additional zest and brought all of the flavors together magically. I will be eating here again.
I had the pleasure of getting the TRAD, with a side of coconut curry today. And OMG! The flavors, the taste, the atmosphere, and the good customer service! Yes you have made a repeat customer out of me. Ms. Mo and everyone I came into contact with were friendly and accommodating hard to find these days. The food was phenomenal a must if you go to the Post.
Been wanting to visit the Post for a while and finally did on a weekday. Parking was free. Soon as we entered, on the right I notice this restaurant which I had also ran across as a new restaurant in Houston with great reviews. We were greeted with a very friendly face offering testers. Something was coconut, vegan with black eyed peas, jollof rice and chopped plantains. Also hibiscus tea. I have only sparingly eating African food because I never know what to order. But this modern menu made it easy as if the tasters weren’t convincing enough. I would come here again and again. Since I work downtown I might just become a regular. Highly recommend.
Omg we LOVED IT! We were in Houston for a quick weekend trip. This place is located inside POST Houston. POST itself is a nice food hall with lots of food options. Specifically we came here because they were giving out free samples and their curry was phenomenal. I wish we lived in the area because it would be my new go to place. We ordered the Motherland. I personally ordered more curry to go with it… yes the curry was THAT good. The first time we ordered it with chicken but the next day my bf ordered it with steak. Honestly they’re both delicious but the steak was his favorite.
1st time visitor and absolutely loved it. From the friendly smiles to the incredible food and beautiful decor, it was perfect. If you need something to wake up your taste buds, this is the place. The Motherland, paired with their signature Roadside Steak. One of the best restaurant dishes I have ever had the pleasure of experiencing. The curry is an addicting!
