The short haired bartender was extremely rude and unwelcoming. We will not be going back. I was at the bar trying to order a drink for 45 minutes while she was serving people who got in line after me first. One girl even ordered a drink, went back to her table and drank it, got back in line and ordered another drink before I was given the time of day. When I finally said something to the bartender her response was “dude, chill out.” Completely unprofessional and rude and I took my business elsewhere after that. She also gave my friend who ordered Maker’s Mark Grand Mariner, a liqueur.
Terrible service and they can’t get your order correct. It’s a great atmosphere and drinks are good, but plan on waving the wait staff down because they are hanging at the bar visiting with each other. The Saturday afternoon manager was no where to be seen until I requested to meet with her. She wasn’t concerned with the staff’s lack of interest. This establishment could be so much better with a professional experienced manager onsite .
Always clean, always good music, and the food is tasty. My two favorite plates are the Bungalow Chicken Salad and the Chicken Salad Sandwich. However, their brunch and bread pudding are great too. This place also has a great patio to enjoy a nice day.
My boyfriend and I went to this restaurant last night (Monday, July 18th) around 8:00pm for dinner and drinks and the bartender made it very clear that she did not enjoy serving African American customers. When we arrived the hostess was very kind and told us we could sit anywhere we liked so we selected to sit at the bar. When we sat down at the bar it was obvious that another customer had just left because the check was still in place and there was food and water on the bar. The bartender (BAR 1919) came over to greet us a few minutes after sitting down and provided us with a menu and told us to let her know when we were ready to order. She took the previous customers check but never wiped the bar down, welcomed us to the restaurant, or gave us any information regarding the food or cocktail menus. She came back a few minutes later to take our drink orders and when my boyfriend attempted to select two beer options she told him they were out so he asked for some additional time to select another beer. She took my order prepared it and brought it back but never followed up with him regarding his order. A young man walked up to the bar, read the menu, ordered his drink, and paid and she never follow up with us. A woman walked up to the bar, sat down, ordered her drink/food, paid and we still did not follow up. She checked in on another customer that had been sitting at the bar prior to our arrival and she made them another round of drinks and she still did not follow up. It was not until she saw my boyfriend walk out and I grabbed my purse and put the card on the counter that she came over and ask if he had made a decision regarding his drink. I explained to her that he waited more than 15 minutes for her to come back and get his order and we were leaving because of the poor service. She never once apologized or even showed any concern regarding us leaving because of her lack of attentiveness. If this restaurant does not welcome or enjoy having African American customers in the restaurant I would prefer they just say it upfront instead of the level of disrespect, poor service, and attitude that we received last night. I spent $15.00 on a drink that was poorly made and watered down because the bartender really did not want us as her customers. I am sure you know I will NEVER EVER go back to this bar and certainly wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.
Came for drinks after work and really enjoyed the service. Cocktails were priced right and we really enjoyed sitting on the patio and drinking. Great place for some casual drinks.
The worst experience we had with the bartender(Carmen). Literally didn’t take the time to acknowledge us at all. She was taking care of everyone else but me and my boyfriend. Definitely a customer not returning back, she seem racist because we were the only Hispanic there.
Really good atmosphere with a good outdoor seating area. But if you want a table, you’re going to have to bus your own. We cleaned cleaned up the food and drinks from a previous group to have a place to sit, and then watched many other groups do the same. Literally waited over an hour and a half for our food, checked on it 3 times, spent probably 20 minutes at the bar just trying to figure out if they were still going to make it. Finally just asked them to cancel it so we could go somewhere else to eat. Definitely understand why most reviews are complaining about service.
Great food and drinks. However, we ordered 4 meals and only 3 came together. We had to ask about the 4th that arrived after the other 3 had finished eating
Took an hour for the food to come (avocado toast and another simple dish). When it arrived, the avocado was grey and the eggs in both plates were cold - I returned mine and asked it to be cancelled, as I was told that to have it replaced would take long as well, which at this point was completely unacceptable.In the end we complaint to our waiter that was wonderful and brought back the plates in an eatable way.Giving one star because as my partner didn’t want to complain and create a situation, and ended up with a stomachache - probably because of the cold runny eggs.
I have been coming to Bungalow Heights for the past few years since they opened. The food is outstanding but after today, February 21, 2022, I will never return. We arrived just before 11:30 am. A group of four people came in as we did and one of the people in the group held the door for us. We were immediately given three menus and waters. The third person in our group arrived at 11:34. As we are regulars, we knew what we wanted to order. The group of 4 who came in when we arrived grew to a group of 8. It took about 10 minutes for the server to take our order after our third party arrived. Our order was not complicated it was two burgers and on sandwich. About 30 minutes after ordering we had to flag down our server for drink refills. At the time there were only the group of 8, our party of 3 and a party of 2 who arrived after us. The server was not checking on tables but appeared to be talking to a friend on the patio by the service window. My wife finally went up and asked about our food as the group of 8 had been served as had the group of two who came in after us. The server said our food would be right out. After a few more minutes the server came by and said our food was being plated up. About 10 minutes later the burgers showed up at the same time the group of 8 were through with their meals, had paid and were leaving. I asked the guy who brought our food out (he was not our server) why was our food delayed and was their a problem in the kitchen. His response was an unfriendly I don't know I just got here. We had seen him in the restaurant for at least 30 minutes prior. When my sandwich came I asked our server why it took almost an hour (55 minutes) for our food to arrive and explained how the group that walked in with us ordered, ate, paid and left at the same time our food started coming out and the other couple who came after us had already gotten their food. We were told the group of 8 had pre ordered, I had heard at least 2 of them order their food when they got in. The server asked if we wanted to speak to the manager and we said yes. The manager was nice and said they were behind because the cook had not showed up and they were all pitching in and offered us half off our meal. We thanked the manager and said it was not necessary to reduce our meal cost and thanked her for her honesty. We paid the full amount of our meal. We understand about kitchen problems, but we were never kept informed, our server never checked on us and we had to flag her down for water refills and to get info on our order status....which came 10 minutes later. I was going to meet a friend here tomorrow for lunch but I told him we would go somewhere else. Bungalow Heights has lost a long time regular customer who has brought many friends and colleagues here. My issue was inattentive server who did not let us know about the problem. There were only 3 party's in house, a 4th party arrived after about 45 minutes. She seemed more interested in talking to her friend then checking on her customers.
