We called yesterday evening 4/28/2020 to order food. Was greeted rudely over the phone by a Hispanic lady who answered the phone. I said hi I'd like to place a order. She said ok what you want? I told her 2 chicken fried steak meals. An online it says you get a salad an 2 sides with it. She said no the man who made the menu is stupid. He put it wrong. She said he didn't know what he's doing. I stayed nice because they are making the food an I don't wanna piss off the preparer. I said ok well what's the sides available? She huffed you don't know already? I went to talk she spoke over me , we have fries and beans. I said ok so no mashed potatoes? She replies yeah you can, An huffs. I said ok so beans an mashed potatoes. She then says with a rude tone just so you know we close in 10 minutes. I told her I apologize, online it says they closed in a hour. She replied rudely again, well I'm taking your order aren't I? I had her on speaker an my husband was listening. My husband An his family know the original owners. An they where about customer service. She said you done or what? I gave my husband the phone. He asked her for her name she said what sounded like Adriana. An her whole tone changed as soon as she heard a mans voice. She was nice an said ok so it'll be ready in 10 minutes. My husband said ok. He hung up an on the way to pickup we changed our minds. Why tf would anyone want to buy food from a rude b*tch? We turned around and went to chili's where a nice girl answered the phone an gladly took my order. Ty Ashley from chili's you where great. So to the owner of barbecue inn find out who worked an answered the phone on April 28,2020 around 7:40pm because she called you stupid and is rude an lost you a extra $35 dollars. That $$ adds up quickly. Do yourself a favor an fire her old rude @ss.
Best fried shrimp in town. The salads are always fresh and crisp and the pies are to die for. My favorite is coconut cream pie. I always ask the friendly waitress to set a piece aside as soon as we sit down. We have been eating here for about 55 years now and we've never had a bad meal.
My place to go for comfort food and comfort service. Been going there since the 50s. It's like going home. My favorite is everything on the seafood platter. Chicken fried steak is my second (with cream gravy, of course.) They have won countless awards for fried chicken. Barbeque and burgers are great too!
Took a business contact from South Africa here who wanted to try Texas BBQ Real old school restaurant The ribs were wonderful and the BBQ Brisket was even better. Service was friendly and prompt. Recommend!
This is an awesome place with good food and friendly wait staff. Warning warning, be prepared to think the local senior citizens home is on lunch break because the vast majority of the staff are old timers as well as the patrons who frequent this establishment. They have been in business since 1946.
Clean restaurant. Felt like stepping back in time. Fried chicken cooked to perfection, good tasting but no spices. Side salads are just lettuce and tomatoes no frills. Chicken fried steak was good as well. Shrimp cocktail was made with good clean quality shrimp and spicey cocktail sauce. Waitress was super nice. If you order fried chicken you will wait 30 minutes to get it, like others have said. So be patient.
The service was attentive but, well, a little strange: stepped away for a moment and came back to find my plate had been taken away (though I obviously wasn't finished). I spoke to the waitress about it and she just gave me a weird little smile. She put the check down before we were anywhere near finished, and from that point we scarcely saw her. Woman at the register wasn't particularly friendly either.
I absolutely love this place. The food is great as is the history Anything I've ever had there was delicious. The BBQ, fried shrimp, stuffed crab, Baked potatoes (hot & cooked completely) It's a Great Restaurant, long time family owned, a rarity, an owner is always there!!
Incredibly inconsistent. Was there once and fried chicken was delicious. Another time it was so salty that it burned to eat it. Another time it was so bland it didn't taste like anything. The same can be said for the friends who went with me for their orders of Chicken Fried Steak. It's a mixed bag that you can't count on and that is unfortunate.
Fried catfish mediocre-at-best. I know this is a staple but just wasn't a good day for me here.
