I have not had authentic, Ethiopian food since I left Phoenix. Bahel is real, traditional, and wonderful quality. If you love Ethiopian food, or you want to try Ethiopian food and don't know how to tell if some place is authentic, then you should come here. Note: if you do not like spicy, and it can be comparable to Thai food, then allow the staff to help you choose.
Absolutely gorgeous hidden gem in the rougher part of Chimney Rock and wonderful provisions! The decor and art are alluring and elegant! I purchased a tea set as well at Bahel Ethiopian Restaurant! The looped instrumental music is one star! Smooth jazz would be nice but the same song played the entire dining experience. I wasn't offered water, a beverage, or alchohol so one star was deducted for that as the young ladies were pleasant! The music is bothersome so going to ask a to go bag and close out tab. I'm thirsty so it's time to go but I am happy I didn't get My nails did so I could find this diamond in the rough!
Holy moly, this place ROCKS! I had never had Ethiopian food before but I am a fan now. Bring me a carafe of tej and bring on the food! The two women providing service were lovely and gracious, and were patient in explaining what could be ordered. I recommend getting a platter for an assortment of stews. And even if you’re stuffed, don’t skip having a little of the injera that lines the platter after it has soaked up the deliciousness!
This was our first time trying Ethiopian food and it was AMAZING! The establishment is beautiful, the staff was so friendly and helpful. We will definitely be coming back to try more of the recommendations they gave us.
Been here twice (dine in and takeout) with family and friends who loved dining at Bahel. We love Ethiopia food in general and both times we got doro wot, the 4 meat, 4 veggie combo platter, Sambusas. We loved all the dishes, the service and the overall vibe of Bahel.
The food is delicious. The veggie options are amazing. The mixed veggie platter has more items than at most Ethiopian restaurants. The steak tartare was also on point.
They are hella good and very fast with orders and I was very pleased with the portion sizes!!!
We gave this place a try on a recent visit to Houston. We arrived shortly after the restaurant opened and were promptly greeted by a friendly young man who seated us. Our server was also very attentive and helpful. We tried the combination of 12 vegetarian dishes with injera and enjoyed them all. Also, we were impressed by the cleanliness of the restaurant. We will remember Bahel the next time we are in Houston.
The food here is incredible, which explains why people were waiting out front for them to open. Most restaurants serve vegetables half raw, but here all veggies were cooked perfectly. Portions are generous and I even enjoyed the inerja, which more often than not I don't care for.
Very good food ?Definitely will recommend to anyone I know to come here.
