Tried this place for the first time this morning. Had the big breakfast and I'm here to tell you it was dang good. I couldn't finish the whole thing. My wife had the Chilaquiles and she enjoyed it. Worth the money we paid and the service was great. We will be back.

First time coming here. The place was very unique and the decoration was good. The Menu is very diverse, you will find way more options than a regular breakfast restaurant like waffle house or IHOP. The have healthy menu options and soups as well. We tried two omelettes which were really good. Coming back for sure to try different plates.

Service was horrible. We sat outside. No one came to greet us or bring us anything. We had to go inside and continue to ask for service. We were seated for over 15 mins before we got a menu and that’s because we had to ask. A waiter came outside to take another order and didn’t even acknowledge us or let us know whether we’d be getting a waiter or not. So, we left. Wont be going back.

I've always loved The Avalon. The people are wonderful, friendly, just nice. They are never in a hurry for you to leave, hmmmm, what else, what else, oh I know, the food is always delicious. I first went to The Avalon in the late 70's on Westheimer and Kirby and have frequented it ever since

Quick servise with a cute dash of sass. Decent coffee, outstanding freshly squeezed lemonade, fluffy waffle and biscuit.

Whenever we visit Houston, we stay in a hotel that is close to an Avalon Diner. Their breakfasts are delicious, and we always get a chocolate milkshake to go for my 92-year old mom.

Chicken fried steak omelet was amazing. New building with an old diner feel. Definitely a place to eat. I'll return any time I come thru Katy again.

buena comida... en minutos

Go to lunch here all the time. Good food at a fair price. Highly recommend the blue plate specials.

Being in this place is like a little travel to the past, decoration is very well selected, with touches of pastel colors and some beautiful planes hanging in the ceilings, made me feel to be in a coffee in the sixties. I just learn Avalon is being in Houston since 1938!!. Of course this location is newer but I suppose they respect some of the original concept. They are specialist in breakfast and lunch. If you need fuel for you whole day, this place is a good option to start the day.I had the Benedictine eggs, those are served only on weekends an holidays. They were very classical, the poached eggs mounted in a muffin with ham, and the hollandaise sauce on it, I like the fact that the ham were thick slices. It was super good.On my next visit I will try the burgers, they said they continue doing them with their original recipe from 1938.
