I had chicken piccata which was grilled chicken and penne pasta with mushrooms and capers. Very good. My wife had Sicilian egg plant with angel hair pasta and she loved it. Both meals came with a small salad which were also very good. Salads were small and house dressing with Parmesan cheese and balsamic vinegar was delicious. We had garlic bread on the side. Service was awesome. It was our first visit and Weill return.
I order spaghetti and meatballs via DoorDash delivery on April 30,2020. The photos that you have on your site look so amazing, but the food that I received from your restaurant looked nothing like what you advertise and the food made me so sick for two and half days that resulted in me getting iv antibiotics. I developed intestinal issues, fever and chills. The health department really needs to shut your doors.
We have been going to this restaurant several times a month for over 25 years. It is fair to say it is one of our favorite restaurants in Houston for both food and great, friendly service. A big part of our experience and loyalty has been Randy the dining room manager. We were so dismayed this week to find out this veritable institution is gone. We do not know the details but we are heart broken he will no longer be there to brighten our dinners. We want to thank him for all the conversation with this fine friend over the years. I hope the owners had a profoundly good reason for making this move. I would have rated Collinas with 5 stars except for this new development.
I was here a few weeks ago and ordered spaghetti and meatballs. Awful! I suggest they go across the street and get a bag of frozen meatballs from Costco and use them. Costco's are good, but the ones here are tasteless and pretty awful!
We live in a high rise near this Collina’s location. We order pizza via delivery a couple of times every few months. We usually call ahead and give them the time when we would like delivery, especially on the weekends. They always get our order right. More importantly, they make a very tasty pizza! The ingredients are always top quality and fresh. We especially enjoy the special seasoning they had to their pies. And you can’t go wrong with their vanilla cheesecake!
I was expecting more, based on the recommendation we got at the hotel we were staying in nearby. Service was great -- very friendly and fast. This was two days after Christmas, with no office workers to be seen around, so I'm not sure if this is coincidental or not. Anyway, the place was empty when we arrived around 4pm. We had pizza and a salad. Portions are very big, but ingredients felt like low quality (canned olives for example). If you are really hungry and can't find anything else in the area, I would go for it. Otherwise, I would pass.
Had not been to Collina's in years and decided to stop in for a to go pizza on a cold afternoon recently. I was kind of shocked that it took forever to get the pizza. I called in advance and was quoted 15 minutes. When I arrived about 5 minutes later I was expecting to wait 10-15 minutes but the cashier couldn't find the order and asked another employee if they had the order and she didn't know anything about it. There were 3 tables so they weren't super busy so not sure what happened to my order. I paid and waited at least 20-25 minutes. Once I got home I tasted the pizza and the crust was very dry and hard. Even though I hadn't been there in a long time I remembered their pizza was really good and had a light, doughy crust. I guess that has changed. Disappointed and don't see myself returning.
This casual spot will win you over with their pizzas - I order "light" cheese to enjoy best. The bread served with salads, entrees is enough to make a meal in itself! Come early to avoid a wait - or enjoy a glass of wine (you can even bring your own bottle) and linger! Several locations, but this one in the Richmond strip at Weslayan is closest to us. I'm sure they are all good.
Been going to Memorial Collinas for a number of years so we decided to check out the Greenway location. This location is slightly smaller than the other. Parking is more difficult because of the strip center limited parking. The food is the same as the memorial location, Excellent. Everything is really great.
I admit that's a word I made up, however, I often find Italian pizza lately with little or no sauce on it. I know some thing this is how they do it in Italy, but having been there, and eaten my( Large!) share of their pizza,I know it is not how Italians make it. We came to this location to celebrate a family birthday. Were told to seat ourselves, and waitstaff was friendly and helpful. They brought us some bread to begin with, which was good, but it has too much fennel on top of it, which is very bitter, so it really overshadowed the good, fresh bread. I tried to scrape the fennel off, but only 50% would brush away, so I gave up on the bread. We ordered 2 pasta dishes, and a medium pizza, to share. The toppings on the pizza were fine, and I really like their crust, but here's the sticking point...little or no sauce on the pizza. The sauce binds the ingredients, and adds a flavor that no other ingredient can, and without it, the pizza seems a bit 'dry'. The other good elements just need that 'splash of color', to bring it to an artistic level. Spaghetti and meatballs were good, and pasta primavera well prepared, too. The prices are reasonable, and the portions are not overly large, so you can easily eat your dish, in one sitting. So, Collina's is good; dependable and served in a comfortable, old neighborhood Italian decor, but if they added a bit of sauce, it could be even better.
