The restaurant was far below the hype. I wanted to eat amala when I visited but I noticed how exposed the ewedu was and had a conviction that it was cold so I had the "local rice." Unfortunately my food was served cold - everything was cold including the fish, the goat meat soup, and the rice. Cleanliness was below standard.

The service could use help. They could be more responsive to questions especially from someone coming out of town. The food quality was good - I had Amala and ewedu. The ewedu was not warm. The meat and stew was good. I am not giving 5 stars due to the service otherwise I recommend.

Horrible customer service, was served wheat that was not well cooked, i had to take it back to the lady who tooked my order, no apologies, with a hand in a air and a rolling eyes, she ask that i trash it. Wow, just wow and to think i paid for it. Food not tasty, service horrible and to crown it all the environment is dirty with plates laying on the table. They lost a customer, whoever cares to listen, amala zone is not a place to be anymore..

I went there on a Sunday. The menu was very limited. I had pounded yam and okro. The food was lukewarm. For people like me who like food served hot, this was disappointing. The food taste was okay. The price was reasonable. The environment is a bit dingy. It can do with better lighting and a spring clean. The staff were nice. They probably would have heated the food up if I had asked.

Meals here are good and somewhat tasty. But the staff are not always truthful. If your order is to be delivered, you may be given whatever they have in stock and not what you ordered. There’s always an excuse for that. Cook is very snubby. Owner is a pleasant lady. But she needs to work on same complaints she’s received numerous times.

Last time I was here, the service was not so good but it was manageable. This time, oh my days! Firstly, I am wondering who advised the owner to make the place look like a fast food restaurant (someone said its because of Covid).Secondly, with all the money made in this place, you would think that the owner would provide a staff room where her employees can eat without probing eyes of hungry customers. How do you expect your customers to feel when they see your employee eating at the food counter? (I wanted to take a picture but it would be unfair to the hardworking lady who just needed to have her lunch).Thirdly, so back to the "fast food queue tingy". So we stood at the queue for more than 15mins to 20mins (remember one of the employees was eating) so it was just one person serving the entire long queue of about 10 pple waiting for food. If you want to fashion your restaurant in a fast food manner, I would expect you learn from other successful fast food restaurants how it's done.Fourthly, the inside of the restaurant seems to have deteriorated from the last time I was there. The restaurant now has the weird smell and I guess it's from the display of food.So in summary, this place is a combination of horrible service with a nice food.I will not recommend because if the restaurant looks that dirty, then the kitchen will definitely be an eyesore.

I was so excited to visit Amala Zone, but when i got there, i was overly shocked, in a negative way. This place could really use a host or hostess to greet and seat the guest. Front entry was filthy, decided to proceed, hoping it would become more appealing. It only got worst. I went to the restrooms before ordering. The smell was very unpleasant, terrible oder, trash all over the floor, no tissue, no naptkins. I still wanted to give them a chance. When i got to the steam table, the food did not look all that good. I drove a long way, so i proceeded. The meat was so tuff, and tasted burnt. They give you the smallest portion of pounded yam. I got two small pieces of goat meat with the liquids they throw together, 2 orders for $46 dollars. The only reason i came was because of the instagram post. Ive tried many African restaurants in houston. This one is by far, the worst, save your money go else where. The whole experience was aweful, simply aweful. Im sure i can do a much better job running this place, with just selling eggs and toast. If the front of this restaurant is dirty, i can only imagine how filthy the back is. The owner needs to focus on taking care of her restaurant, and slow down with the catering. Or close the restaurant, and just focus on catering as its ruining her reputation. I will never ever come back to this aweful dreadful place, simply sickening. Disappointed, as you can tell. ???? as far as customer service goes, it was very unwelcoming. One guy was eating while taking phone calls, while the young lady was chewing gum, maybe thats why she couldn't say hi. I was not acknowledge at all, i had to alert them to take my order, which happened 15 minutes later. Customer service was just as bad as the whole experience, such a pitty, such a shame. I realized on the videos, shes only serving one type of food, mixing liquids. Well, in the middle of the night, i kept making multiple visits to the restroom, my stomach was unsettling. 3 hours of going to and from the restroom. Then my husband started, i was like here we go again. Something is really wrong. I hope they fix the problems they have, as i try to support my people. But i dont want to get ill again as a result of it. Good luck my dear, your video fashions, should be bought to your restaurant the same way. Advice to the owner, hire an American to manage the front of the house, and one in the back. Pay them well, and they will fix all your problems. When family work for you, they get lazy very quickly. Wish you the best.

We ordered the amala- abulaI could not take the food bcos all I could taste was the burnt-smokeyness of the food, it was overwhelming and overpowering.3 stars is the clean environment and service.

Good Nigerian cuisine and beverages. No table service, you wait in line and make selection of entrees. Good customer service, reasonable prices and free parking.

Visiting houston for the first time and just had to have amala. I live in a part of the country where authentic Nigerian food is hard to find. The food was delicious and the customer service I received was exceptional. I'll definitely be back.
