The food was so good. I had the turkey wings with Mac and cheese and green beans. The plate was huge and definitely worth the price. The only complaint is the green beans were a bit salty for my taste and they should consider different plates for carry out, the gravy was everywhere. Other than that it was delicious, service was timely and friendly.

They shrimp gumbo was amazing!! It was so good but I was disappointed with the shrimp and grits ? It was bland no favor and my shrimps still had the tails on them which was pointless

Heard it was good but they were closed…? Seems everything in the area closes about 30 minutes before their supposed closed time. Wouldn’t be as bad if they’re sign wasn’t on and door unlocked as if they open. And they’re still on 10 minutes after being told they closed…?

Nice and friendly staff. The dining area was well kept. The food was not good at all though. I ordered the fried wings and the wings were tough and stringy. The mash potatoes were bland, I've had better black eyed peas from the can and the greens were not good at all. The peach cobbler was very sugary and lacked any home style flavor. I definitely will not go back!

Service was slow and black eye peas were spoiled. I suppose it was because it was very hot in there can’t keep soul food viable if places are hot. Will not be returning

I hate to be this person, but I’m highly unsatisfied. I just moved here 2 days ago & I passed by this place my first day & I was so eager to try it. I ordered some food today, & after I did something told me to read the reviews.. if I had seen the reviews before I ordered, I wouldn’t have ordered. First off, my food came messy. My gravy was EVERYWHERE! The turkey legs seemed to look like it’s on steroids.. I have 2 different brands of green beans.. & not to mention I didn’t receive my peach cobbler that I ordered. The turkey wings could’ve definitely been cooked longer.. this was not a great experience. I called twice & left a message.. no answer. Definitely won’t be getting my service again, it only takes one time with me.

Just don't go. It's nasty. I'm sure they have some loyal customers but I can't be one of em. The only thing that was decent was the cabbage. I left my food on the table and went somewhere else.

This place is near a historical emancipation park[formally Dowling Park]. Down home type cooking, smothered porkchops, greens, etc. However, the staff news to improve and service counter could use 2 people to handle orders. From what I'm seeing now, the kitchen does not keep up with orders in a timely fashion [ items missing from orders causing more delays]. Staff should be wearing hair nets and servers aprons....my pov. Notice employee come in and start handling orders. No handwashing,, no apron/hair net. Straight from street to behind counter. Kitchen ran out certain item and tells customer to come back 2hrs??? You should be aware of food items low and get replacement ready...

Let's eat some food for the soul ? Delicious breakfast Lunch and Dinner. Today I got breakfast after my doctor's appointment.

It was a cold day so We didn't feel like the line at Breakfast Klub. So a quick Google search brought us here to Alfreda's. Man what a fortunate happening. Their Fried catfish is outstanding. I had the greens, mac, and cornbread dressing lunch. While my wife had the fish and grits breakfast with eggs and toast.First of all the servings are huge. I ate about half my sides and the fish, ordered more fish and packed that home with the leftovers for dinner. The greens were cooked and seasoned perfect. The mac was cheesy but the noodles were a little overcooked, and the dressing was perfection with the gravy over the top. I could eat a plate of that alone. The lady talking orders was kind and helpful, She gave me a brief rundown of the Alfreda's story. The food came out hot and made to order. Definitely going back when I'm in the museum district.
