Abe's handles the pandemic well with better spacing (plus outside seating), courtesy, and crackling good food! The gumbo has a dark roux with wonderful subtleties of flavors, servings are large, batters add tasty but not obtrusive flavor, temperature of food is great, service is attentive enough, and no one rushes you. You can refill your own drinks. Décor is very reminiscent of the mysterious swamplands. A great place to eat.
We stopped here on a recommendation from the staff at the Lone Star Air Museum. It was out first one of our best Texas meals while visiting. Portion size is generous!Friendly staff and helpful with tourists. The cheesecake was amazing and huge for the price.Great place that is probably a local favorite.
This place is so good. The $24 seafood platter comes with a ton of food. Very good deal.
I love this place. Had the red beans and rice, which came with cornbread and a side order. The corn bread is absolutely the best I've ever had. I ordered the cole slaw and it was delicious as was the red beans and rice, with a generous amount of sausage. It's not a fancy place, but they do the basics very well and it's reasonable. I've been here several times before and I will be back.
Very good quite place and amazing food, fried pickles, bbq roast beef po boy must try, best around do not hesitate to go here!
One of the best places in town. We go there on regular basis and is our to go place to take out of town guests. Portions are trully texas sized, flavors are one of the kind. Highly recommend cat fish ala abes to get the most authentic plate.
My biggest complaint is that they overcharged $2 over the menu price. When I noticed it one of my friends said they had recently raised their prices. Update your menus first, do not bill me more than your advertised price! Food was not great. I got the black and blue catfish and it was bland, not blackened, kind of watery and not pleasant. The sides were better than my main course, and my friends enjoyed their meals. The staff were friendly and personable, for those reasons I gave them 3 instead of 2 stars.
The shrimp muffauletta was amazing. I couldn't finish the half! Abe's has delicious food, friendly staff and large portions.
Well when I first walked in it was not inviting..it just seemed unwelcoming..not by staff but by customers the vibe was off . however the staff was friendly and attentive to my needs ..the food on the other hand was very bland..as you can see from the photo I had to season it myself.. crawfish is my favorite!!! But now I know not to get it from here ?
I'm writing this review after two bad encounters there. For starters the food is ok. If you have any roots from Louisiana then you know what I'm talking about.Secondly, the staff is fairly unfriendly. I really hate to go here in this review but i felt pretty discriminated against when i went there.I went to place a to go order. The man walked away and did other things and then took a phone call. Another younger man came to register and asked if i had been helped and i gave him my order. He was friendly and kind and we placed our order and sat down. The first man that kind of brushed me off, started to immediately taking the other patrons orders behind me. Everyone behind was of the Caucasian persuasion and i will leave it at that. The 4-6 people that places their order after me all got their food. My daughter and i sat and waited patiently and the original person that took my food came and asked what our order was. He went back and i assumed tried to get status on it. We continued to wait. Another wave of Atleast 6 people came in and the first one that ordered from that group received his meal and walked out. By this time almost 20 mins had past. I went up to counter and asked about my meal and the lady said here. Not friendly at all. So i said i waited for 20 mins and no one said anything? She said i called your number u didn't come up. I said no maam even your employee came and followed up when i had not been given my cup of soup and grilled cheese. She grew increasingly nasty and at that point i just walked away. Did not care to engage or escalate the situation more. This the second time this has happened. I hate to say it but both times it felt kinda racist in there. Not sure what it's about but probably good idea not to go back. They seem like a popular joint and many do like them and they came recommended but food is just ok. There's a pic posted above of the grilled cheese i ordered and waited 20 mins on .
