Delicious! We were in town and wanted to try a highly rated eatery, Tolbert’s looked like it could fit the bill. And it definitely did!We were seated immediately and drinks were promptly brought out. Our server was amazing btw. I ordered the fried chicken sliders with fries. Hubby ordered the chili tacos which he let me take a bite of, yum! My sliders were way better than I expected, chicken breading was cooked to perfection. I almost opted out of the chipotle Mayo but I’m so glad I didn’t, it had a savory flavor with just a kick of spice. Loved it!I recommend giving them a try :)
Tolbert's was on my Texas Bucket List that I almost skipped, but I'm SO glad I didn't. I wanted to go to one of the originals in the Chili game, so when I saw it was 15 minutes from my hotel, I made it my trip's last dinner destination. The menu is much more than chili, but I was on a mission to sample both of their standard bowls. I got a cup of Red, sans chopped onions, and a cup of Chile Verde. The Red has a really good mild base flavor that I could eat repeatedly, but also tweak at home for my own family. If I make it back to Grapevine, I'll get the 5 alarm ? The Chile Verde is similar to the kind I've had in El Paso - very brothy. The diced pork was very moist & the diced green chiles, tomatillos, and other items were flavorful. It would be a great breakfast dish with some flout tortillas. The Queso Rojo was pretty darn good. It is their queso dip with a scoop of Red in it.The service was quick & efficient, the decor was pleasantly what I expected, and the people were really friendly. If you find yourself near Grapevine, make Tolbert's one of your meal destinations.
Fun lively place, good food and nightly live music. The appetizer sample is a great way to try the different selections. Donkey trails and torpedoes are very tasty. Most entrees come with two sides and reasonable priced. Good beer selections, go perfect with the food. Our server was very friendly and helpful which make the whole experience even better. Definitely will visit again when I'm in town
I sampled the chili. The 6 oz Sirloin with asparagus spears and mashed potatoes… Outstanding! Loved my window seat! This place should be on your planned stops if you’re visiting Grapevine, Texas.
Want to share this with the owner of Tolbert's. Me and my wife have visited Tolbert's about 6 times since last June and every visit was wonderful. Want to give a great shout out to Kim. She's a great server and it shows. Very polite, very professional and has a wonderful personality as well. Because of this we will be dining there again soon. Because we with First Baptist church of Grapevine my fellow church goers have told us about your Restaurant. Hope everyone who visits Tolbert's has a very good time there just like we did. Thanks. A thank you to Kim.
Love the atmosphere of this Grapevine Main Street Restaurant. Very good service. Outdoor seating available. Live music at posted times. Good menu and traditional Texas spicy chili.
The fries here are seriously some of the best we have had. We have eaten here three times now and the fries bring us back each time. I tried the chili since it's supposed to be what they are known for and was sadly disappointed. It was bland and lacking flavor. I didn't even want to finish it. My husband enjoyed their blt and my kids both loved their chicken strips and grilled cheese. Salsa was pretty good and the tortilla soup was decent. Just wished their chili was better. I would still go back for just the fries, perfectly cooked each time. Service has been great each time too. Very friendly staff
Not everything is bigger in Texas! This is a tough review to write because I had a previous excellent experience at Tolberts. However, my wife and I were disappointed last night. We wanted to listen to some live music and went in for some appetizers. We ordered the beef nachos for $12.99. When they arrived at our table we were presented a plate with EIGHT CHIPS on it. I think I was in shock and that's why I never questioned it. I was looking around for cameras to see if I was on a hidden camera TV show but Ashton Kutcher never came out to laugh at (or with) me. My kind wife knew I was still hungry so she stopped at 3 chips and let me eat 5 chips. Thanks honey!
Tolbert's is right in the heart of historic Main Street Grapevine and has a great, old-school Texas atmosphere. The chili is an excellent authentic bowl of Texas red. I enjoy adding the 5-alarm offered. Tolbert's has a great bar area and a stage with live music. We'll keep coming back as long as we live in Grapevine, but it's also worth a drive.
We were here in October. Food and cocktails were really good but service not so great. a great atmosphere looks like they offer live music on certain nights. hopefully they were just short staffed or having an off night as far as service goes
