Went there today 4/30/2022. We were hesitant to come because of some of the bad reviews but we decided to give it a chance. Well we are glad we did because the Food was great as well as service. I ordered the shrimp tacos that were served with some delicious black beans and rice. The sauce that accompanied the plate was exquisite. The chips and salsa were the bomb. Great experience! Only reason why I didnt give them 5 stars is because they messed up my reservation so we had to wait a few minutes longer but ended up fixing it with no issues.
The cantina is inside of the Gaylord Texan Resort/ Hotel. The ambiance of this place is immaculate!! The restaurant resembles the actual look of the Riverwalk in San Antonio, but indoor. The roof on the resort is made to give you the feeling of being outside with the rays of the sun shining through! Now, on to the food ?. I had the gorditas, Spanish rice, and street corn ?. It had a amazing authentic flavor! It was so good I took some to go!! Even though there was a large group of us our waitress Wendy was great! ? Even if you don't stay in the hotel go visit the restaurant.
Were told there was a 10-15 minute wait. Gave them my cell # to be notified when table was ready. Open tables everywhere. After 45 minutes 2 spots opened at the bar. Sat down to horrible, slow service. Couldn't wait to get out of there. Bartender was rude when we asked for separate checks, and when they showed up included 2 drinks we never ordered (+$18). Took awhile to get that fixed. Left a horrible tip which I never do and will never go back. Avoid.
Love the atmosphere and the River walk views of this cute cantina at the Gaylord Resort. We stopped in for breakfast and were greeted and seated immediately. At 8AM on a Friday morning there was no wait and few people were in the space. Enrique introduced himself, brought menus and asked about water and coffee immediately. When he brought the drinks he asked if we had questions on the menu and took our orders. The menu is very Tex-Mex, traditional with a modern flavor. We ordered the Ham and cheese omelet with fruit (over the option of potatoes) and the salmon bagel. The coffee was hot and hit the spot, but with the low volume of customers I would have expected to be asked more regularly about refills. We were asked once as we were finishing our meals and accepted, then after we were done eating and were getting ready to pay the bill we were asked about coffee to go. The presentation of the food was fabulous… the omelet was stuffed and the salmon was rolled with the bagel on the side and toppings diced and ready to add on. The runner brought the potatoes with the omelet rather than the fruit but when Enrique came to check he noticed immediately and fixed it - bringing the fruit. The omelet was made of fluffy eggs and filled with diced ham and melted cheddar cheese - too much cheese for my husbands taste, if there is such a thing… it overpowered the egg and ham. It is a preference - I would have been pleased with it. The fruit was fresh - blackberries, strawberries, blueberries - combined. Definitely preferred over the potatoes which were slightly soggy and not as crispy as preferred, but seasoned nicely. Since they couldn’t take them back, we tried a bite. The salmon bagel was my favorite! The everything bagel came with butter and cream cheese in a separate plate, and the salmon and toppings were amazing! There was a large portion of salmon rolled along with diced red onion, capers, diced tomatoes, separated egg whites, and egg yolks. These were some of the best lox I have had in a long time! The prices were a bit high for the food but it was delicious and service and views were great.
First the food. It is okay Mexican fare. Far below what Grapevine, Texas has to offer. Second the service. To put this in perspective, I'm talking about two people and one of those was a 6 year-old that wanted nothing more exotic than kids chicken tenders. The restaurant was perhaps 20% full. Waiters and waitresses were standing around chatting. Our waitress was friendly and cheerful, whenever she occasionally showed up. No water was offered when she did show up. At that point, I seized on the opportunity since she was actually there and told her we would order immediately because we needed to eat and leave in less than an hour for one of the Gaylord's shows we had tickets for. Of course, I might as well have said that to the Koi lazily swimming in the water next to our table. She said, "no problem" and disappeared. Eventually she came back, we ordered. She disappeared. After waiting for almost 30 minutes, no waitress, no food, I went looking for her. When I found her, she was shocked we hadn't gotten our food. But, isn't it her job to know that? But, I digress. It took another few minutes for the food to finally arrive. We wolfed down our food, paid and left. That painful experience ended 6 minutes before the show. We literally had to run as fast as a 6 year-olds legs will allow to get to the show. Our elapsed time at the restaurant was over an an hour. I won't go back.
The food is delicious! The service was a bit slow and the restaurant closed early despite a huge event at the hotel. We ordered apps but never were able to order entrees.
Delicious food, excellent service, great views by the water but the price for two people and two drinks plus mandatory tips was $120. So I'm just gonna head to whataburger tomorrow
Great customer service, very lively themed, beautiful decorations. Only gave it 4 stars because the music was just a little too loud that we couldn't hear each other talk. We always had to repeat what we were saying and loudly.
The food is garbage. The beef fajita is a step up from a frozen dinner. The dinner buffet prices are outrageous and they charge a party of five and under 18% gratuity, which for us, we $30. It wouldn’t have been an issue had the service been good.
Partly our fault for not just leaving, but website and a la cart menu had breakfast items still listed. Ends up it was lunch buffet. We gave it a shot. Queso had a hidden heat to it and neat was greasy. Basically we had half a bowl of nachos between two of us. And two Uber strong coffees. For $64. With auto 18% gratuity. Will not be back
