Considering I rarely leave negative reviews, it takes a lot for me to decide to publicly give negative review. I used my points to book a last minute weekend for my family and had high expectations. Let’s just say it was deflating, at the least. We arrived Friday. We checked in and it went smoothly. The elite desk took care of us promptly. It was downhill from there. The Waterpark was disgustingly dirty, and as a result had so many bees we were chased out of our loungers. We ultimately said forget it and left. We tried to get a table for dinner. That was a joke. We were still trying at 830. Our food finally arrive just after 9. For a 7 and 9 year old after an afternoon of swimming it was torture. Saturday Morning, another wait. We waited patiently and we were seated eventually. Our food took almost an hour to get. I almost missed my spa appointment. Fast forward to this evening, since I was unable to secure reservations for dinner we were forced to wait for an hour. No take out available. Room service menu is awful. The clientele can be jerks, pushy and rude when fighting for a table. So we waited for dinner. Waiter was great. Apparently, tickets are needed for almost everything and they were all sold out for the escape room. The one thing my kids wanted to do and they couldn’t. In the words of my two kids, the worst trip ever. There is a lot more that happened but it’s honestly not worth my time to write it. Really, your time and money would be better spent elsewhere.
I took my children on a staycation to this resort this past weekend. Overall the property is as nice as I recall, however, two issues made our weekend much less than expected. When we arrived in our room, the noise from the outdoor pool and music was incredibly loud. I immediately contacted the staff, and was told that the pool and music end at 10PM. Since we had plans away from the hotel that night, I did not see an issue. However, when we returned to our room later that night, the music had stopped, but the pool was still open and incredibly loud. We tried to get to sleep, but could not. With young children, this was not fun. I contacted the staff and was repeatedly told that security was on their way. It wasn't until after midnight that security actually arrived and cleared the pool area. I don't fault the people at the pool, but for the property to have rooms without adequate sound protection near the pool, and then to not send security in response to complaints, this was ridiculous. This in and of itself ruined our night sleep. The other issue was with the water park. I understand it's nature and there will be bugs. However, there is a ridiculous bee infestation throughout the entire park. You literally could not sit down anywhere without having numerous bees flying around your body. My kids were terrified of them. At one time, I counted 13 bees on surfaces within 2 feet of where I was sitting, plus countless others flying around. Something needs to be done to make the park enjoyable to guests without dealing with the threat of being stung constantly.
The room was comfortable, clean, spacious and most importantly (given the heat when we stayed) air conditioned. What can I say about the Gaylord Texan as a whole? It is like another world! After checking in we set off to find our room and stepped from the lobby area into the huge domed centre of the resort, this is the point where our jaws hit the floor. A huge area planted with local plants, fake rocks, a couple of model railroads, multiple restaurants, shops, water features and a dome high enough to make you feel like you’re outside - except it is all kept at a pleasant temperature. Everything is there, if you don’t want want to leave the dome (beyond a trip to he water park) then you don’t need to! We enjoyed every moment of our stay here.
I ordered something small to be delivered to the hotel. The hotel had it delivered to their in-house FedEx store. I went to pick it up and they demanded a $15 "handling fee" to receive the small package. But, it didn't stop there: They'll charge you a $20 resort fee and $22/night for self-parking, and $42/night for valet. Want a beer or cocktail? $15 and $20 respectively at their cheapest bar. A burger costs $22 at their cheapest restaurant. A 20 oz Coke in their sundry shop? $5.07. Shuttle to very nearby DFW? $40 per person (double the cost of an Uber). Heck, the prices are better in AT&T Stadium when you're watching the Cowboys play. I guess I could look the other way if this was a true 4-Star hotel, but my room was significantly worse than the room I had at the Drury Inn (Marriot's cheapest hotel) last week. It was dated and tired. This place is a giant rip-off. Stay elsewhere even if your employer is paying for it. I know I will next time.
We decided to take a family trip with our 3 year old last minute and came across this hotel. We were greeted exceptionally and the hospitality was incredible. I want to mention Amy Romanelli especially!!! She is an amazing asset to your establishment, and went above and beyond to make sure our stay was one to remember! She was our right hand throughout the trip! She really helped us in the craziness of 4th of July weekend accommodating us and connecting us with everyone we needed to to enjoy the many amenities the Gaylord has to offer. I would 100% recommend this hotel to anyone, and really hope ya'll can cross paths with Amy at some point through your stay!
Was at the Gaylord Texan this past weekend for a meeting. The room was clean and spacious. Overall nice stay. Good restaurants and nice pool. Did not get to go to the water park and lazy River but it looked really nice. A bit disappointed with the coffee options. The cocoa bean and marketplace have Starbucks coffee but it was not great- watered down maybe? Lots of stuff for the kids to do. If I had another meeting there I’d probably bring my family there next time
This is an amazing hotel to stay at it is so pretty she’s a little pricey but it is a beautiful and really nice hotel I would highly recommend for an celebration and I have visited a few of there restaurants and they are really good and your food will come out fairly fast! ??

If you have kids under 40” skip this place and check into the Great Wolf. I attended a conference but kids were too small for slides. One person maximum going down slides and 300# weight limit(was no where near limit). Had a three year old that loves slides but he wouldn’t go down by himself like you can at Great Wolf. Reception/Staff was not very knowledgeable about water park kept referencing the map. Guidelines do not list a one at a time rule. Tons of cute things in hotel for kids but posted notes that they are for pictures only, no climbing/touching. Two kid meals on menu. Again had to reference website for more options. Indoor pool is part of a spa and people getting spa stuff done groan on kids actually playing. Outdoor pool is hot. Weather was over a hundred. Nothing inside hotel was for kids except a tiny place you could paint a small cheap canvas or put something together. Great wolf is literally next door. Valet is high if you don’t use it. I will definitely stay at Great Wolf next time and use valet to park. Three hour wait on dinner was insane. I wish I had known.
