3.5 Stars. I love Pokejos, especially the RR location but my parents live in Gtown now so I tried this one. Walked in and it smelled like Cigarettes, not the kind of smoke you want to smell at a BBQ restaurant. Got the 2 meat, brisket and sausage, with Fried Okra and Baked Potato Casserole, ordered to go. The service was good and quick, but when I got home, I noticed they gave me fries instead of okra, and the fries weren’t even all that good. Lost a star there. Receipt was correct so kitchen error there. Then I opened the to-go box and my meat was drowned in sauce (half a star here). I like the sauce here, so for me it was fine, but I’m more of a little sauce to dip by bbq in kind of guy, so that was a bit disappointing. It wasn’t a bad experience, but wasn’t the consistency and quality I know and love from the other locations.
I'm picky on my BBQ...this place did a really great job! Didn't care much for the banana pudding, but enjoyed my meal and the nice service!
Our to-go order was supposed to be ready at 4:13, I waited for it until 4:40. When I finally asked the manager how much longer it would be, he came right back out of the kitchen with it - suspicious. Not sure what the delay was, it was off-peak hours, there was only one table dining in the restaurant. There were about 5 of us waiting for to-go orders. No one was offered a complimentary soft drink while we waited (past our pick up times). All of the staff was in the kitchen - no one (host, server, bartender) was on the floor. People were walking up to the kitchen window to ask for drinks they had ordered. No one was at the bar. The staff was literally arguing in/by the kitchen so we could all hear it.After all of this, and after we complained, the manager offered to refund us $10 on out $65 order...
Ordered take out and the brisket was super dry and needed sauce to be edible. The pork ribs were very bad with a odd unappetizing smell. The fried okra was stale, it seemed to be leftovers from earlier in the day. So disappointed for the cost of it.
Expensive brisket should either come with large portions or good flavor, this place achieved neither. Had items missing from take-out order despite restaurant being completely empty. I've given this place a chance several times, the sides were good, but wish I went to Rudy's instead. Either the company has declined or maybe just this location, would only eat here if was last bbq place in town.
Late lunch on a Monday around 2:30Simple brisket sandwich and fries.Meat was dry and bun was as it was stale and hard and had been sitting out for two days.Fries were ok, but I came here for the sandwich.Very disappointed
Had heard about this place from a few friends, unfortunately just way out of the way from our home. 10/10 will make the drive again, staff was very nice and made several suggestions. Food was fantastic!
Really great experience! Went with a large group and they really took care of us. Would definitely go back to try done of the other stuff we didn't get catered. Might raise it to 5 stars when I get to go back.
I go to the one in Round Rock and there very fast and you can see what your being served. Here it takes a long time to get the food. This is my second time here and they ask if you want bread but this is the second time they forgot to give me the bread. The setup looks good but the process is horrible when compared to the other locations. They gotta get it together.
Returning from the Fundamental 5 Conference, our team decided to stop here since we were not able to try the BBQ on the way to the conference. The restaurant is located inside of a strip mall next to a gym, talk about making you feel guilty, with plenty of parking. As you enter, you must place your order at the desk. The inside is big and very clean with large tables for a big group. The BBQ side bar has all the items you'd like pickles, onion, jalapeños, etc. I ordered the 3 meat plate ( ribs/brisket/sausage ) with okra & green beans. The brisket had a regular taste nothing great. The ribs were tender with a good smoke flavor and sausage was good. The green beans were truly a delicious side and okra crispy. The customer service was above average making the visit 4 stars and worth the stop at Georgetown. If you don't mind feeling guilty next to the gym, Pok-e-Jo's worth the visit.
