We went to The Star Drug Store for lunch before our dolphin tour. This restaurant looks as good in person as it does online. The staff are friendly, very knowledgeable on the history of Galveston. The food was great and of course the ice cream treats we’re amazing! A must if you are visiting Galveston.

We visit the Star Drug Store every time we come to Galveston - good food & historical atmosphere all wrapped together in a quaint establishment. This time we had a party of 7, and they easily accommodated us at the counter. We ordered from the breakfast/brunch menu, and everyone left satisfied. Prices averaged about $10 per person, and the food was tasty & made to order. Definitely recommend!

There were 6 of us and we sat at the bar, family and couples. Food and service was outstanding, the atmosphere is welcoming and makes you want to go back.

We took our three children here for breakfast today, ages 4-14. It was great. Everyone had something they liked. There was so much history to learn. They asked to go back tomorrow for breakfast, or maybe just ice-cream.

This is such a cute little shop with lots of character. We had a French toast breakfast at the counter with coffee. The service was wonderful, and the food was just right. We need to come back and try a milkshake!!

Eating at the Star Drug Store is literally taking a step back in time. Most of the seating is at the original lunch counter, although there are a few tables indoors and outdoors. The food is very similar to what you would have found fifty years ago — not haute cuisine, but very serviceable. I visited on a Saturday morning and had a very good eggs benedict with standard diner (weak) coffee. I started coming to the Star Drug for lunch with my grandmother as a child in the late '60's. At the time, the Star Drug was an operating drug store and lunch counter. The inside of the building was destroyed by a fire, but it has been completely restored by the current owner. To be sure, the restoration leans a bit towards the kitschy, but that describes o lot of Galveston today. The former owner, Mr. Clampitt, used to great regulars, and I remember him fondly. What I had not known until recently is that he and his partner were the first to integrate their lunch counter, even though he know it would anger many. His argument was it was the right thing to do. (Ref.: Galveston, A History of the Island by Cartwright). So stop by the Star Drug, have a historic meal, and patronize an establishment on the right side of history.

Great breakfast, friendly staff, and nostalgia abounds in this little place. Convenient location and easy parking.

What a cool place, the oldest drugstore in Texas to begin with. The employees are friendly and super nice. The food was delicious!!! So glad I happened upon this place while visiting the island and the Strand. Wish I could give it 10 star's. ⭐

They have done a very good job keeping this place maintained. It was a great w experience to see a historic soda fountain. We got a root beer float and i wish i could have gotten more

Very nice place takes you back in time. Service was quick for it being so busy. The staff was very nice and kept the hot coffee flowing.
