It’s a beautiful restaurant. Lovely atmosphere. Food was amazing
Excellent food and drinks as usual
We finally tried this place. The reason we gave it a try was because we’ve seen how the owner values and takes care of his employees. That’s almost impossible to find now days. The food was excellent. I got the sweet & sassy burger with a dirty monkey. Both were amazing. The service was good & the atmosphere is great. We will be back soon and often... even though we live over an hour away. Kudos to the owner for caring about his employees and not being a greedy business owner like many.
I and my family have been eating at the Spot for many, many years - I have never had a disappointing meal there until today. The flavor of the batters was all wrong and the food was VERY greasy! The fries have been changed to waffle fries and some string onions. This is the spot where I eat almost every time I go to Galveston. Never again. Not only was it north of $45 for two people to have burger and fish strips, but the quality and atmosphere were sad. Dirty, sticky tables and floors, dirty grease, changed recipes, and very hot inside, plus food that caused stomach upset for 12+hours. I won't be back.
We have eaten here many times. Sadly I have to report that our meal last evening wasn't on par with our previous good experiences, probably because of Covid? The food was not hot and the thing that bothered me the most was that the person delivering the food to our table was not wearing a mask. There were only a few staff actually wearing a mask and for that reason we won't be returning until the pandemic is over. There are several outdoor patios along with indoor tables. It is always packed.
We were confused as there are a bunch of areas that offer food and drinks. So the Rum Bar doesn’t offer Margaritas and you have to go to another area for that. The food was ok and plenty of it. The view of the beach is great!
We went to The Spot on a Monday evening with 6 adults and 4 kids. Plenty of parking in the 4 story parking garage. We were funneled into the ordering station with about 4 registers and everyone ordered what they want. Then we moved up to one of the second story outdoor decks. We got tables and were all settled, enjoying the view of the gulf and seawall and the great breeze. Then we started noticing the pigeons. There were probably 30 pigeons on our covered deck of about 20 4-top tables. They are walking around under your feet looking for crumbs. But when somebody finishes their meal and gets up to leave, a bunch of pigeons fly onto their table, land on their platters and eat their leftovers, pooping as they go. When the busboy came to clear and clean the table, he shoos them away and we suddenly have 8 to 10 pigeons flying over our table and food. The pigeons turned what could have been a very nice dining experience into something that was very unappetizing. They need to add chicken wire all the way around those outdoor decks.
If you are looking for beachside, this is a good option. The Spot has 2 sections, the family restaurant and the 21+ bar. We spent our time in the restaurant with the kids. It is not table service, you order at the counter and they bring your order to your table. There is plenty of inside and outside seating. There is a grass area with games for kids and a lot of beach views across the street. The food is average, however the appetizers are good and there are many options for kids.
Busy, but so worth it. Great food and margaritas. Fun to people watch. Right on the "strip". The wait staff was fast and polite.
