Tried this place based upon other reviews. This is a local restaurant, not a chain. The place isn't fancy but the food is genuine and fresh. Great BBQ! Got take-out twice while in Galveston for a week. They were also very willing to answer my questions concerning ingredients (I need gluten-free and dairy-free.) Their coleslaw, meat, BBQ sauce, and baked beans were flavorful and met the dietary restrictions. Reasonably priced, too.
Miss Sandy was a gem! After we were done eating, she came over to talk to our group and give us some history on the restaurant. All of the food was incredible, and the Mac and cheese was too good. A must-stop when in Galveston.
Food and hospitality is outstanding- met Miss Sandy, super nice lady and she even had us sample her homemade peach cobbler and ice cream! A sample here was TEXAS SIZE! Delicious!!! I would highly recommend- I had the brisket baked potato, and my man had the brisket sandwich. Creamed come with green chilis have a nice kick too!!
People weren't joking when they told me this place was the best. I had the cliffhanger sandwich for the Thursday lunch special and WOW. that was easily one of the best lunches that I've ever had on this island. The bbq sauce is perfection, the mac n cheese is not gritty, it is perfectly creamy, and everything about the sandwich was delightful. Can't wait to try more on the menu!
Best BBQ in Galveston hands down! Family business for over 50 years. They know what they’re doing and are not driven by corporate guidelines.
No nonsense bbq. We had a brisket meal with mac and cheese and green chili corn,, and added a side of sausage. Condiments consisted of bbq sauce, one hot sauce, pickles, and onions.
A must do in Galveston! Best Texas BBQ I have ever had!
It is one of the best BBQ joints. Been open since 1966. Definitely worth stopping. Have to get the Turkey Cliffhanger and, of course, the peach cobbler with homemade ice cream. It is excellent
This place was amazing!! I ordered the turkey cliffhanger and it was delicious. The service was even better, everyone was super helpful and accommodating. We had a large group of 16 and the queen herself talked to us for a while. I would highly recommend this place.
Best Barbecue on the island. This place is a mom and pop, locally owned, homemade, old fashioned no frills barbecue restaurant with wonderful country music played. The brisket sandwiches are very tender, moist, and delicious. The service is friendly and is a lot less expensive than the touristy places are. I recommend checking this place out. There is a lot of antiques on display including an old fashioned cash register and you feel like you are in the wild west when you dine in. The food taste like it is cooked at home.
