We stopped here on account of the wonderful reviews. It's a small place and we got there about 7 pm. They were only taking to go orders. We ordered the 3 meat plate with ribs, sausage and brisket, Mac and Cheese and green beans. I also ordered a slice of sweet potato pie. My better half is very pleased with the food. Me, I am not all that thrilled with it. I felt the brisket wasn't that tasty, the ribs weren't the best I've had , now the sausage was good though. Don't bother with the sweet potato pie, it's not that good.
Anita and Greg were very welcoming! We ordered briskets, ribs, Mac and cheese, cole slaw and rum cake! The food was beyond delicious and the service was impeccable and the price was right! Next time y’all visit Galveston, come check them out.
Leon and Aida treated us like family and gave us a wonderful meal and experience! Amazing deserts too!
I just had a very nice meal with my sister and my wife at Leon’s BBQ on Galveston Island. Anybody that knows anything about barbecue it’s not necessarily the sauce and it’s not necessarily the smoke it’s also not necessarily a brand new place somewhere. Leon’s is 45 years old and is locally owned and operated by Leon himself. Far as I’m concerned one of the best barbecue places I’ve ever eaten at in my life. It’s a brisket just right pork ribs are done just perfect. They offer fatty cuts and lean cuts as well. The sides are really delicious and the food was awesome, the staff is very friendly and it’s very much an old school place which is what I like. I enjoy dining at Mom and Pop restaurants , eateries and cafes very much. Great food, good price, nice people, great conversations. It’s a combination of the smoke and marinade everything just right. Go to Leon’s BBQ on Galveston Island and get yourself some real Texas barbecue
Had 8 people with us. Service was fast and friendly. She didn’t miss a beat. I think I had an out of body experience when I tasted the food! DELICIOUS. Best bbq I have ever had. Wanna come back to Galveston JUST for Leon’s bbq!
The security guard at our resort recommended Leon’s when we asked about BBQ. He said to go here, hands down. So on our last night in Galveston, we drove to Leon’s after sunset, reaching our destination just before 7. Doors were locked and a customer was just leaving. We asked if it was open and he informed us that it was open until close or until they ran out and his was the last order. They ran out before 7 that night, so go early! It smelled delicious!
My husband and I went there about 2-3 years ago for the first time. Now every time i am in Galveston I will go. (Husband passed away July of this year)
Delicious barbecue experience. Building doesn't look like much from the outside but the food! Oh the food!!! Between us, we had the brisket, ribs, and the "Leon's Cut" (thicker cut, more fat, amazing crust brisket) along with potato salad, BBQ beans, red beans and rice, and absolutely delicious cole slaw. The meat was flavorful and tender. Bread pudding for dessert was just ok but the rest was great!!Definitely recommend a visit here.
Long time quaint joint. Excellent BBQ on the island. I had the smoker turkey leg and friend had pork ribs which eh said were right up there with his favorites.
Had hard time finding itDark didn't know if it was open.Smallish inside.But very tasty ribs.Was given a sample of the brisket. Then it was so good I had to order it. Looks bad from the outside but food is delicious ?
