The five star rating truly is well deserved. The Schnitzel was deliciously prepared and the sauerkraut was made with lots of love just like a German Grannie would. Definitely brought back happy memories from my time there!
Food was fresh and delicious! It is nice to finally have some German food in the area. Each meal is prepared as you order as this speaks for their freshness, so expect a little bit of a wait on busy days. They have a nice outdoor area to sit and relax while waiting so I recommend getting a cool drink! Employees of all the food trucks in the area were incredibly helpful. As I was waiting for my food, there wasn’t any shady spots, but an employee from another truck put up an umbrella so I could move into the shade. I decided the share a table with some others and had a nice meal on a beautiful day.
I was fortunate to have lived in Germany for 7 years back in the 70's and 80's. So what a delicious surprise to have this German food truck make it's debut on Galveston Island. The food is beyond yummy and the menu authentic. The owners, Judith and Charles are a true delight to chat with and get to know. If you are on the island, Around The Corner food truck is a must do!
I had been wanted to go since they had opened and I finally got a chance to go. The Leberkäse Brötchen with the Spiegelei was great to me I felt like I was in haven.
This place is a little food truck area with outdoor seating. The food was amazing, I ordered several different items on the menu just to basically try it all. It was well worth the drive. The owners are super sweet and very accommodating. It is a must stop and have some German Food place.
Took a trip to Galveston Beach to eat some delicious authentic German food for lunch. Around the corner (Um de ecke) is owned by two of the nicest people you can imagine.If you haven’t met Judith Smith & her sweet husband yet, you are missing out!The food was so good it took us back to Oma’s kitchen in Deutschland. We tried almost everything on the menu! Schnitzel with buttery spaetzel and sauerkraut & sausage. Currywurst with pommes frites. Yummy Schnuggets, the gurkensalat has the tastiest yogurt dill dressing. Then their hammered spaetzel with ham and cheese. The kids got Haribo gummy kabobs for dessert.Highly recommend a trip down to Galveston even if it’s just to get some “real” German food to go!
Everything about the experience at Around the Corner, including the service, the chatter with the cooks, their story, the food and the menu was quite wonderful.Specifically the food (the currysauce!!) carried me back to my childhood where I would munch on currywurst and fries with mayo marching up and down PaquetStrasse.Thank you for providing a food time capsule for me and a frelling wonderful start to our vacation.-Jad
