OMG this place was amazing! I never had taiyaki before this and it's now one of my favorite dessert. My daughter and nieces enjoyed it as well. They have some unique flavors for soft serve but also some known flavors for those not feeling too adventurous. I've done a video review of them on my tiktok and IG accounts @abgfoodadventures
Grease all over my product Not worth $9 for five pcs tai yaki at Frisco tx location Don’t even close the box nor put into the bag when pick up the food Posted complaints on google and yelp No respond Purchase made 7/15 12pm Friday
They have fish shaped waffles with a type of filling alongside various soft serve flavors. I recommend trying both, as they serve the fish in a cup of soft serve. Surprisingly, it’s not too sweet and very fluffy to eat. It’s a nice treat to have when you’re out with friends.
It was something unique and different to try out and it tastes great. Granted, I wasn’t as adventurous with the flavors as I probably should’ve been but I was still happy to try something a little different with the waffle cod filled with Nutella on top of my milk and chocolate soft serve. If you’re in the area definitely try this out.
This place is great! They have the best desserts! And strawberry milk with real strawberries and puree ?. I haven’t tasted anything like it before. This is a must-try! ???
I love this place! Really really good ice cream. I got the Ube soft serve with coco pebble topping. However, there is really no seating inside so you’ll have to sit outside or stand inside.
There was so much hype and expectations around Somi Somi, but I've never been to one until now. The hype didn't meet my expectations. It was my first time to Somi Somi. The place was crowded, and I felt like the customer service wasn't that great, at least from the cashier herself. There wasn't anything special about the flavor, with the exception of a few, and the food was desserts were undercooked and was already melting by the time it was handed to me.We ordered two soft-serves (Ahboong and Upside Down) and 5 Taiyaki (Custard, Oreo, Taro, Nutella, and Red Bean). The Upside Down was a lot better in terms of portability and neatness. The Ahboong becomes a huge mess when the soft-serve begins to melt. I received my Ahboong in melting conditions because there was a situation that the staff had with another customer while she was holding my soft-serve for about 5 minutes. I thought that the melting was normal until I saw my significant other's perfectly-looking soft-serve (because they just did his). It melted on my clothes and all over my hands—it was just a huge mess. Aside from my situation and my soft-serve, because I was already in a bad mood, I didn't really enjoy my Ahboong—Oreo and Custard. However, Jordan enjoyed his Upside Down a lot--Ube/Matcha and Red Bean. Aside from soft-serves, the Taiyaki(s) weren't great fresh nor was it great refrigerated. The exterior was only slightly crispy while the interior was completely mushy/doughy. I'm unsure if that's how it normally tastes, though. As for the customer service, because it was my first time, I felt a bit dumb, by the cashier, about my questions. For instance, I saw a bunch of people standing in line with soft serves in their hand. I thought they were waiting in line, in order, to get their food and that they'd get their soft-serve at the cashier. When I asked the cashier would we be called or if we would wait in line, she stated in a very demeaning manner, "That's why we ask for your names." In addition to this, my soft-serve being melted so early because another staff member was holding onto it forever (I watched her as she was holding it because we were waiting for a while and I didn't have anything better to do).Overall, maybe on an off day it would have been better, but the customer service and the desserts weren't up to par with all of the hype I've been hearing about. I don't think I would return, but Jordan would for their Ube and Red Bean.
So good! I was in Los Angeles last month and discovered this chain for the first time there, so I was completely unaware they had a location in this are! Took my little sister so she could try it out, and it was a great experience. The staff was friendly, and our treats were ready very quickly. I definitely recommend trying it out. And if you're not read to take the leap and try out the red bean, don't feel bad about trying out a different filling!
We have been wanting to try Somi Somi for a long time. We love Tayaki it’s just really far away for us. It didn’t disappoint! We had Nutella and Oreo flavored tayaki plus some icecream. Place is cute and clean. It was busy but they worked fast. Wish it was closer and we would be here more often!
This place is not for me, but everyone else I know loves it. I did like the waffle filled with custard, the service is nice and they explain the process well if you're a first timer and watching the process is cool. Give it a try for yourself.
