Housekeeping: the photos in my review are items from Set 1 and Set 2 at Kyodai. We have also been three times before writing this review.First and foremost, yes this place is a bit pricey, and may be out of reach of some folks budget. I will say that you absolutely get what you pay for, and I don’t mind paying that price. It is my honest opinion that there is not another sushi bar in the area that can get away with these prices. In the three times that we have been to this restaurant, we have received great service from the staff, and the food quality has been top-notch. The restaurant itself is very well appointed, and stylish. This can be a place you can take your kids if they like sushi, but I really would recommend this is more of a date spot for lunch or dinner.Typically when we go to sushi, we know what we like, and order those items off the menu, but we will also ask the chef if they have anything special that day, or ask for their recommendations. We typically do not order a set or do Omakase because we had not really found a place aside from Sushihana in San Antonio that we trusted to order this way. I will say that the sets at Kyodai are definitely the way to go! Each set has its price point, and the courses provided are definitely reflected in that price. I have enjoyed Set 1 twice, and Set 2 was enjoyed yesterday for lunch service. While set one is only about $35, the quality of the fish used is worth more in my opinion.I can talk all day about why I would recommend this place, however the bottom line is… If you are looking for a sushi bar that uses high quality fish and thinks outside the box in the way they use it, then Kyodai is the way to go. This is the only sushi bar I would recommend in this area of town. There are other locations I could recommend if you are on a budget, but sushi is a luxury, and Kyodai does it well!
oh YES! expensive and 100% worth it. goose liver is just... different level of tasty, go for it and never look back. overall atmosphere is calm, but could be sparkling (based on how many people); music is well volumed and paced. beautiful ladies, men, couples. nice and pristine. upscale spot. expect to spend $40-80/per mouth and you might remain a bit hungry after that.
One of the best sushi place I have ever been to. This place is high price but well worth it. The specialties are a must. Some of the items are over $20 a bite, but it's so good. Go on a day that is not too busy, I feel they spend more time making these little bites. I did not like the chef specialty set much, I felt like there were fillers. I prefer to select my own. So I get only the things I like.
Such a wonderful dining experience!! Love the transparency offered by the open concept layout - got to sit at the bar and watch how the food was prepared. Everything was so fresh and delicious. Got the fatty salmon sashimi and kyodai roll as appetizers and finished with the 6 hand roll combo - food was filling and price is really good for the quality you’re getting!! Highly recommend!!
The owner, Viet, came in and hosted our tasting experience. Fantastic guy, fantastic, forward-thinking menu and items. Sourcing is impeccable. Having avidly experienced sushi all around the world, can confidently say this is TOP NOTCH.
I’m always so blown away with the sushi here. It’s so fresh and located nearby FRISCO/ALLEN. Every time I go here, I bring a group with me and we try all the different types of sushi they offer. I LOVE THE UNI HERE. It’s the freshest UNI that I’ve EVER HAD. Literally look at all the photos I have here. I definitely recommend you guys go here and show them the photos! 10/10!!!!!!

This gem gets tucked away in the place where I would never imagine it is existing to serve amazing food like this. It was a great experience overall, we had a great time. Not even a single grain of rice left on the table when we left.Sushi is so fresh that melt in your mouth, the creativity of the chef on this Omakase is superb! Not only the food is amazing, service is top of the World, staff are very attentive and alert. Very knowledgeable and helpful to get you through the whole Omakase experience.Restaurant is so clean, the open kitchen is a good touch to see chef actions. Great ambience throughout. Be sure to revisit again, best of all, it's so close to home.
